Quantum field theory of dilute homogeneous Bose-Fermi mixtures at zero temperature: General formalism and beyond mean-field corrections

2002

We consider a dilute homogeneous mixture of bosons and spin-polarized fermions at zero temperature. We first construct the formal scheme for carrying out systematic perturbation theory in terms of single particle Green's functions. We introduce a new relevant object, the renormalized boson-fermion T-matrix which we determine to second order in the boson-fermion s-wave scattering length. We also discuss how to incorporate the usual boson-boson T-matrix in mean-field approximation to obtain the total ground state properties of the system. The next order term beyond mean-field stems from the boson-fermion interaction and is proportional to $a_{\scriptsize BF}k_{\scriptsize F}$. The total groun…

Reversible Photochemical Control of Doping Levels in Supported Graphene

2017

Controlling the type and density of charge carriers in graphene is vital for a wide range of applications of this material in electronics and optoelectronics. To date, chemical doping and electrostatic gating have served as the two most established means to manipulate the carrier density in graphene. Although highly effective, these two approaches require sophisticated graphene growth or complex device fabrication processes to achieve both the desired nature and the doping densities with generally limited dynamic tunability and spatial control. Here, we report a convenient and tunable optical approach to tune the steady-state carrier density and Fermi energy in graphene by photochemically c…

A Gravitational-wave Measurement of the Hubble Constant Following the Second Observing Run of Advanced LIGO and Virgo

2021

This paper presents the gravitational-wave measurement of the Hubble constant (H 0) using the detections from the first and second observing runs of the Advanced LIGO and Virgo detector network. The presence of the transient electromagnetic counterpart of the binary neutron star GW170817 led to the first standard-siren measurement of H 0. Here we additionally use binary black hole detections in conjunction with galaxy catalogs and report a joint measurement. Our updated measurement is H 0 = km s-1 Mpc-1 (68.3% of the highest density posterior interval with a flat-in-log prior) which is an improvement by a factor of 1.04 (about 4%) over the GW170817-only value of km s-1 Mpc-1. A significant …

Spin texture motion in antiferromagnetic and ferromagnetic nanowires

2017

We propose a Hamiltonian dynamics formalism for the current and magnetic field driven dynamics of ferromagnetic and antiferromagnetic domain walls in one dimensional systems. To demonstrate the power of this formalism, we derive Hamilton equations of motion via Poisson brackets based on the Landau-Lifshitz-Gilbert phenomenology, and add dissipative dynamics via the evolution of the energy. We use this approach to study current induced domain wall motion and compute the drift velocity. For the antiferromagnetic case, we show that a nonzero magnetic moment is induced in the domain wall, which indicates that an additional application of a magnetic field would influence the antiferromagnetic do…

古典波動現象のトポロジーによる特徴付け; 静磁スピン波表面モードのトポロジカルな起源

2019

We propose a topological characterization of Hamiltonians describing classical waves. Applying it to the magnetostatic surface spin waves that are important in spintronics applications, we settle the speculation over their topological origin. For a class of classical systems that includes spin waves driven by dipole-dipole interactions, we show that the topology is characterized by vortex lines in the Brillouin zone in such a way that the symplectic structure of Hamiltonian mechanics plays an essential role. We define winding numbers around these vortex lines and identify them to be the bulk topological invariants for a class of semimetals. Exploiting the bulk-edge correspondence appropriat…

Production and investigation of neutron-rich Osmium isotopes with and around N=126 using gas flow transport method

2014

Neutron-rich isotopes of heavy nuclei are until now poorly studied. In this work we investigate neutron-rich osmium isotopes produced in multi-nucleon transfer reactions. The reaction 136Xe+208Pb at energy near Coulomb barrier is used for production of osmium isotopes. The CORSAR-V setup is used to record the characteristics of osmium isotopes. The separation of the reaction products is based on their respective volatility. Experimental results are presented and discussed. © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.

Sensitivity of one-neutron knockout of halo nuclei to their nuclear structure

2019

Halo nuclei are located far from stability and exhibit a very peculiar structure. Due to their very short lifetime, they are often studied through reactions. Breakup reactions are of particular interest since their cross sections are large for these loosely-bound nuclei. Inclusive measurements of breakup--also called knockout reactions--have even higher statistics. In this proceeding, we study which nuclear-structure information can be inferred from the parallel-momentum distribution of the core of one-neutron halo nuclei after the knockout of its halo neutron. In particular, we analyse the influence of the ground-state wavefunction, the presence of excited states within the halo-nucleus sp…
