Min-Type Control Strategy of a DC-DC Synchronous Boost Converter

International audience; This paper presents the analysis and design of a min-type strategy to control a synchronous boost converter in continuous conduction mode. The strategy uses a nonlinear switching surface to establish the change of topology in the converter and is analyzed by means of a sliding-mode control approach. Subsequently, the min-type strategy is modified by a hybrid control formulation, which introduces a hysteresis width and a dwell-time to obtain a finite switching frequency in the start-up and steady-state respectively. Test Methods for the Evaluation of Manufacturing Mobile Manipulator Safety

International audience; This paper presents a test methodology for evaluating the safety of mobile manipulators (robot arms mounted on mobile bases). This methodology addresses the safety concerns relevant to modern, agile, manufacturing practices in which mobile manipulators will play a significant role. We consider 1) the unique capabilities and anticipated uses of mobile manipulators and 2) the potential exemptions and special cases in which their behavior may be unpredictable or otherwise contrary to the safety requirements. Finally, we define metrics for assessing compliance with functional safety requirements and anticipated performance.

Using Automatic Morphological Tools to Process Data from a Learner Corpus of Hungarian

The aim of this article is to show how automatic morphological tools originally used to analyze native speaker data can be applied to process data from a learner corpus of Hungarian. We collected written data from 35 students majoring in Hungarian studies at the University of Zagreb, Croatia. The data were analyzed by magyarlanc, a sentence splitter, morphological analyzer, POS-tagger and dependency parser, which found 667 unknown word forms. We investigated the recommendations made by the Hungarian spellchecker hunspell for these unknown words and the correct forms were manually chosen. Implementation of sparse forward mode automatic differentiation with application to electromagnetic shape optimization

In this paper, we present the details of a simple lightweight implementation of the so-called sparse forward mode automatic differentiation (AD) in the C++programming language. Our implementation and the well-known ADOL-C tool (which utilizes taping and compression techniques) are used to compute Jacobian matrices of two nonlinear systems of equations from the MINPACK-2 test problem collection. Timings of the computations are presented and discussed. Use of accelerometers and gyros for hip and knee angle estimation

In this paper a wearable sensor system, consisting of accelerometers and gyros, has been studied to estimate hip and knee angles. The proposed algorithm, developed in order to avoid the error accumulation due to gyroscopes drift, has been tested on angle measurement of the hip and knee of a commercial device for assisted gait. Music players and cloud solution for music recommendation and automatic playlist creation are becoming increasingly more popular, as they intent to overcome the issue of the difficulty for users to find fitting music, based on context, mood and impression. Much research on the topic has been conducted, which has recommended different approaches to overcome this problem. This paper suggests a system which uses a multi-dimensional vector space, based on the music’s key elements, as well as the mood expressed through them and the song lyrics, which allows for difference and similarity finding to automatically generate a contextually meaningful playlist. peerReviewed
