Moduli spaces of quasitrivial sheaves on the three dimensional projective space

2022

Let M(r,c_1,c_3,c_3) denote the Gieseker--Maruyama moduli space of semistable rank r sheaves on P^3 with the first, second and third Chern classes equal to c_1, c_2 and c_3, respectively. Maruyama proved that the space M(r,c_1,c_3,c_3) is a projective scheme. However, the geometry of such a scheme remains largely unknown, despite the efforts of many authors in the past four decades, and questions about connectedness, irreducibility, the number of irreducible components, and so on, remain open. When r=1 and c_1=0 (which can always be achieved after twisting by an appropriate line bundle), one gets that M(1,0,c_2,c_3) is isomorphic to the Hilbert scheme Hilb^{d,g}(P^3) of 1-dimensional schemes…

Effet d'une carence en soufre combinée à un stress hydrique chez le pois protéagineux : Etude des mécanismes moléculaires mis en jeu dans les organes…

2019

Pea (Pisum sativum L.) is a grain legume crop that produces seeds rich in proteins for food and feed and, thanks to its symbiosis with nitrogen-fixing bacteria, enriches the soil with nitrogen. The wider development of pea cultivation is therefore a major agroecological challenge. Water stress combined with sulfur deficiencies in soils (S is a macroelement necessary for plant defense reactions) are two abiotic stresses that interact in the current context of climate change. However, the molecular mechanisms underlying pea adaptation to water stress and their modulation by sulfur nutrition remain to be elucidated. The objectives of this thesis were, first, to describe the impact of an intera…

FIBRONECTIN (FN) AND UROTHELIAL DAMAGE SECONDARY TO ADJUVANT INTRAVESICAL THERAPY

2014

Introduction and Objectives: Intravesical chemotherapy has been proven effective in preventing recurrence of low-risk non-muscle invasive bladder cancer (NMIBC). BCG is recognised as the best conservative treatment for intermediate and high risk NMIBC. Maintenance for at least one year is required to ameliorate the efficacy of adjuvant therapy. Discomfort and toxicity often cause interruption of adjuvant therapy, BCG particularly. Almost 50% of the patients undergoing BCG does not complete one year. A biomarker of urothelium damage would be helpful for timely detection of toxicity in order to ameliorate patient’s tolerance and compliance. The aim of the present study was to evaluate the gen…

Relaxation of the order-parameter statistics and dynamical confinement

2020

We study the relaxation of the local ferromagnetic order in the quantum Ising chain in a slant field with both longitudinal and transverse components. After preparing the system in a fully polarised state, we analyse the time evolution of the entire probability distribution function (PDF) of the magnetisation within a block of $\ell$ spins. We first analyse the effect of confinement on the gaussification of the PDF for large $\ell$, showing that the melting of initial order is suppressed when the longitudinal field is aligned to initial magnetisation while it is sped up when it is in the opposite direction. Then we study the thermalisation dynamics. In the paramagnetic region, the PDF quick…

The performance of the ATHENA X-ray Integral Field Unit

2018

The X-ray Integral Field Unit (X-IFU) is a next generation microcalorimeter planned for launch onboard the Athena observatory. Operating a matrix of 3840 superconducting Transition Edge Sensors at 90 mK, it will provide unprecedented spectro-imaging capabilities (2.5 eV resolution, for a field of view of 5') in the soft X-ray band (0.2 up to 12 keV), enabling breakthrough science. The definition of the instrument evolved along the phase A study and we present here an overview of its predicted performances and their modeling, illustrating how the design of the X-IFU meets its top-level scientific requirements. This article notably covers the energy resolution, count-rate capability, quantum …

Polarization of SrBi 2 Ta 2 O 9 ceramics at infra‐low frequencies

2009

Dielectric response in the SrBi2Ta2O9 ceramics is studied over a wide range of temperatures at fields up to Emax ≈ 18 kV/cm. Dependence of dielectric permittivity on field intensity is analyzed at different temperatures. A series of polarization loops are obtained at frequencies 0.1 Hz, 1 Hz, and 10 Hz. The hysteresis at switching polarization is displayed by the shape of polarization loops changing with the field amplitude from bi-angles to quasi-saturated loop patterns of a high degree of rectangularity. The ratio of remnant polarization to maximum polarization as function of field amplitude is presented. Thermal behaviour of the coercive field and the half-width of polarization loops is …

Chemistry and functional properties in prevention of neurodegenerative disorders of five Cistus species essential oils.

2013

The chemical composition of Cistus creticus, Cistus salvifolius, Cistus libanotis, Cistus monspeliensis and Cistus villosus essential oils has been examined by GC and GC–MS analysis. Height-nine constituents were identified in C. salvifolius oil, sixty in C. creticus, fifty-six in C. libanotis, fifty-four in C. villosus, forty-five in C. monspeliensis. Although the five species belong to the same genus, the composition showed interesting differences. Essential oils were screened also for their potential antioxidant effects (by DPPH, ABTS, FRAP and b-carotene bleaching test) and their acetylcholinesterase (AChE) and butyrylcholinesterase (BChE) inhibitory activity, useful for prevention and …

Flavonoids from Acacia pennata and their Cyclooxygenase (COX-1 and COX-2) Inhibitory Activities

2007

Two new flavonoids quercetin 4'-O-alpha-L-rhamnopyranosyl-3-O-beta-D-allopyranoside (1) and apigenin 6-C-[2''-O-(E)-feruloyl- beta-D-glucopyranosyl]-8-C-beta-glucopyranoside (2), along with the known isorhamnetin 3-O-alpha-L-rhamnopyranoside (3), kaempferol 3-O-alpha-L-rhamnopyranosyl-(1-->4)-beta-D-glucopyranoside (4), and isovitexin (5) were isolated from the leaves of Acacia pennata Willd. (Mimosaceae) and tested for their anti-inflammatory activity. Their structures were determined by 1D and 2D NMR and mass spectrometry. They were tested for an inhibitory effect on COX-1 and COX-2, showing 60-90% inhibition at 10(-4) g/mL and 5-14% inhibition at 10(-4) g/mL, respectively.

Recovery of oil with unsaturated fatty acids and polyphenols from chaenomelessinensis (Thouin) Koehne: Process optimization of pilot-scale subcritica…

2017

The potential effects of three modern extraction technologies (cold-pressing, microwaves and subcritical fluids) on the recovery of oil from Chaenomelessinensis (Thouin) Koehne seeds have been evaluated and compared to those of conventional chemical extraction methods (Soxhlet extraction). This oil contains unsaturated fatty acids and polyphenols. Subcritical fluid extraction (SbFE) provided the highest yield—25.79 g oil/100 g dry seeds—of the three methods. Moreover, the fatty acid composition in the oil samples was analysed using gas chromatography–mass spectrometry. This analysis showed that the percentages of monounsaturated (46.61%), and polyunsaturated fatty acids (42.14%), after appl…
