On the accuracy of some common modeling assumptions for EDCA analysis

Several models have been discussed in literature in order to evaluate the performance of the EDCA differentiation mechanisms. Despite of the exponential back off rules, usually the EDCA protocol has been modeled as a persistent slotted access protocol, and summarized into a set of access probabilities. These models often show a very different complexity and accuracy, according to the basis assumptions. Coupling two radar backscattering models to assess soil roughness and surface water content at farm scale

Remote sensing techniques are useful for agro-hydrological monitoring at the farm scale because the availability of spatially and temporally distributed data improves agricultural models for irrigation and crop yield optimization under water scarcity conditions. This research focuses on the surface water content retrieval using active microwave data. Two semi-empirical models were chosen as these showed the best performances in simulating cross and co-polarized backscatter. Thus, these models were coupled to obtain reliable assessments of both soil water content and soil roughness. The use of the coupled model enables one to avoid using roughness measured in situ. All-sky search in early O3 LIGO data for continuous gravitational-wave signals from unknown neutron stars in binary systems

Rapidly spinning neutron stars are promising sources of continuous gravitational waves. Detecting such a signal would allow probing of the physical properties of matter under extreme conditions. A significant fraction of the known pulsar population belongs to binary systems. Searching for unknown neutron stars in binary systems requires specialized algorithms to address unknown orbital frequency modulations. Global linear feedback control for the generalized Lorenz system

Abstract In this paper we show how the chaotic behavior of the Chen system can be controlled via feedback technique. We design both a nonlinear feedback controller and a linear one which globally regulate the closed-loop system states to a given point. We finally show that our approach works also for the whole family of the generalized Lorenz system.
