Unexplored analytics of some novel 3d–4f heterometallic Schiff base complexes

2014

Three heterometallic Schiff-base complexes of Cu having Pr, Nd and Sm as the heteroatoms have been synthesized. The compounds have also been characterized by their IR spectra and CHN analysis. The single crystal structures of these compounds have been studied from the X-ray crystallographic data. To the best of our knowledge the article describes the possibility of application of these compounds in the field of species dependent anion sensing for the first time. Amongst a number of anionic species, certain sulphur species were found to have greater reactivity towards a Schiff-base complex as they can incur probable changes in the molecular complexity. The S2O82−and S2O32− species could modi…

Report on medium-term effects of the habitat protection and restoration activities of the LIFE Project “Maintenance of the habitats of the Macalube o…

2013

The Site of Community Importance (SCI) “Macalube di Aragona” is prone to severe desertification risk. In fact, its vegetation is disturbed not only by cyclic soil movements resulting from sedimentary volcanism, but it is strongly influenced by the hostile properties of the clayey substratum (prone to intense linear erosion, badly aired, rich in salts, etc.), the long drought period (ca. 4 months) and by the long-lasting history of human pressure. Both stress and disturbance factors influence progressive succession processes, so that the most “mature” local plant communities are () the chenopod shrublands referred to Salsolo-Peganion (habitat 1430 according to 92/43 EU Directive) and the hal…

The conservation of the endemic Crop Wild Relatives in the RIBES seed-banks: towards a national priority list for the Italian CWRs

2016

Data of 620 crop wild relatives of species of food and fodder interest listed in the Annex I of the FAO Treaty (FAO, 2001) were collected within the census carried out by ISPRA, the Italian National Institute for Environmental Protection and Research, in 2014-2015 in order to quantify the extent of CWR representation in the Italian ex situ collections. According to such census, the RIBES network preserve 37% of the Italian CWRs listed in the FAO Treaty: in 14 out of 16 seed-banks are preserved 6,029 accessions of 229 CWR taxa, belonging to 11 families and 57 genera.

Proposal to conserve the name Orobanche foetida (Orobanchaceae)

2015

In this Proposal we formally propose to conserve O. foetida with Bourgeau’s gathering of 16 April 1856 as conserved type. Our choice rests on the following reasons: (1) it clearly represents the current usage of the name O. foetida; (2) it is based upon material from northern Algeria not far from the Algerian-Tunisian border where the ranges of the two species overlap and in a region broadly coincident with the original terra classica of Poiret’s name; (3) the proposed conserved type is readily accessible online in a remarkably detailed digitization; (4) the sheet contains a sample of the host plant, which proves to be a non-shrubby Fabaceae (presumably Medicago laciniata (L.) Mill.) and th…

Orobanche australis Moris ex Bertol. the correct name for O. thapsoides Lojac. (Orobanchaceae)

2022

The taxonomic relationships between Orobanche australis and O. thapsoides are analyzed through the study of the original material. These species are also compared with other morphologically similar ones occurring in the Mediterranean (O. canescens, O. pubescens, O. palaestina, O. amethystea). The lectotype of O. palaestina is designated. From the comparison of these taxa it is evident that O. australis and O. thapsoides refer to the same taxon, to which the name O. australis must be given by priority. The distribution of this species includes Sardinia, Sicily, Peninsular Italy and Southern France. It grows on pastures from the sea level to about 1000 m of altitude, host of Asteraceae. An id…
