Analysis of the unpredictable migration of impacted mandibular third molars: A pilot study

2020

Background Eruption of an impacted mandibular third molar (3MM) is often unpredictable. The objective of this study was to establish the radiographic parameters of migration in patients whose 3MMs evolved unpredictably. Material and Methods This was a retrospective observational study. Patients with unusual 3MM migration (away from their physiological eruption position with changes in the longitudinal and horizontal axes) and with at least two panoramic radiographs were included. To evaluate the radiographic parameters, images were superimposed, using mandibular angle and ipsilateral condyle as references. Results Of a total of 2851 patients, four were included in our study. The average age…

Testing of the hydro-mechanical behaviour of shales.

2016

Shales are among the most commonly considered geomaterials in current energy-related geomechanical investigations, as they are involved in engineering applications such as the unconventional extraction of natural gas, CO2 sequestration and nuclear waste geological storage. A deep understanding of their hydro-mechanical behaviour is of primary significance for such applications. In this paper selected results on the water retention behaviour and on the high pressure oedometric compression behaviour of shales are presented.

Col-azioni.

In 1995, the fao identified the city as a place in which to produce food. Since then, the trend to integrate small places, necessary for pasture and cultivation, has produced a substantial and valid corpus of strategies, methods and realisations. At the same time, in Europe, research into th…

Socio-spatial dynamics and ways of living of urban spaces : comparison of Besançon, Mulhouse and Strasbourg

2013

The spatial distribution of urban functions and populations is not random, this distribution canhighlight inequalities which call into question our democratic societies based on the principle ofequality. This principle is based on the relationship between the “social” and the “spatial” whichmainly consist in investigating social disparities in urban areas and what is perceived as an injustice byindividuals. To understand these socio-spatial dynamics, we focus our research on the urban history ofBesançon, Mulhouse and Strasbourg as well as the relations between the inhabitants and theirresidential environment. Using large geo-localized databases from INSEE, we study the spatialdistribution o…

Towards an Assessment of Public Library Value

2010

PurposeThis paper aims to present a methodology, early findings, possible applications of results and lessons learned from the research study “Public libraries: value, trust and satisfaction”, which has been conducted within the public library development project ‘Father's Third Son’ in Latvia.Design/methodology/approachA combination of quantitative and qualitative methods was used (although the findings reported here are largely drawn from the quantitative study) drawing on various theories of information behaviour and use‐oriented information service evaluation.FindingsThe study gives a good picture of user information needs in Latvia, the sources they use to fulfil them and the role of p…

Individual habitat transitions of Atlantic herring Clupea harengus in a human-modified coastal system

2015

Published version of an article from the journal: Marine Ecology Progress Series. Also available from Inter Research. Http://dx.doi.org/10.3354/meps11103 Pelagic marine fish often display highly dynamic migration patterns. However, such movement behaviour is usually studied at the population or school level, while less is known about individual movement characteristics and habitat transitions. During March 2012 to June 2013, we used acoustic tags and moored receivers to monitor the behaviour of Atlantic herring Clupea harengus L. (N = 47) throughout a range of habitats on the Skagerrak coast in southern Norway. Five of the tagged herring entered a former lake transformed into an artificial …

Profesjonsetiske utfordringer i et helseforetak : en kvalitativ studie av sykepleiere ved to psykiatriske akuttposter i et helseforetak

2013

Avhandling for graden philosophiae doctor Universitetet i Agder, Fakultet for humaniora og pedagogikk “Professional Ethical Challenges within a Health Enterprise” is a qualitative study of 14 nurses and 2 unity heads of two psychiatric emergency posts in a psychiatric health care enterprise. The study explores modern challenges that these nursing personnel meet at work: challenges that require of them an increasing degree of regulation and standardization. The study is defined and limited by two research questions: 1. Which ethical and moral challenges do these nurses experience? 2. Does the implementation of governmental reforms affect the nurses` possibilities for acting as professional n…

Construct validity of the Moral Development Scale for Professionals (MDSP)

2011

Olle Söderhamn1,2, John Olav Bjørnestad1, Anne Skisland1, Christina Cliffordson21Faculty of Health and Sport Sciences, University of Agder, Grimstad and Kristiansand, Norway; 2Department of Nursing, Health and Culture, University West, Trollhättan, SwedenAbstract: The aim of this study was to investigate the construct validity of the Moral Development Scale for Professionals (MDSP) using structural equation modeling. The instrument is a 12-item self-report instrument, developed in the Scandinavian cultural context and based on Kohlberg’s theory. A hypothesized simplex structure model underlying the MDSP was tested through structural equation modeling. …

Increasing Vaccine Acceptance and Uptake: A Review of the Evidence

2021

This article reviews the latest research on behavioral interventions to increase vaccine acceptance and uptake identifying the policies that work and underlying the determinants of their success. We focus primarily on studies that appeared after the publication of Brewer et al.’s (2017) in-depth survey of the behavioral literature on vaccination. We identify four major types of interventions that were tested in the lab, online or in the field: social norms-based interventions, opting-out strategies, reminders and recalls, and loss-framed/gain-framed messages (tailored to a particular population or not). Studies covered in this article can be a valuable resource to researchers as well as to …
