Findings This mendelian randomization study found that a 1-SD decrease in birth weight due to the genetic risk score was associated with a higher risk of type 2 diabetes among European and East Asian populations. However, as Ronald Barnett (High Educ Res Dev 23(3):247–1260, 2004) remarks, ‘learning for an unknown future calls for an ontological turn from knowledge to being-in-the-world’, which makes its own demands. Being in the world calls for one’s opening up to new experiences, throwing oneself into a state of effort, engagement and inspiration.
Biodynamic behavior of the trunk and the abdomen during whole-body vibration

Vibration strain may be defined as the sum of all reactions of the human being to vibration exposure. This also includes the biomechanical behavior of particular parts of the body. Knowledge about these reactions is necessary in the field of occupational health and ergonomics. Biomechanical models, experimental methods, and results are presented. It can be shown that under vibration exposure with different conditions (body posture, vibration direction), the body parts are in resonance at varying frequencies, mainly in a low frequency range.

Background The buccal fat pad (BFP) is an encapsulated mass originated from a specific fat tissue in various volume throughout the life of each person and BFP has been used in various surgeries as a source of useful graft material due to its easy accessibility and rich vascularization. Case Report This report describes fifteen patients who were treated with buccal fat pads (BFP) as a pedicled graft for lateral relaxing wound closure in primary cleft palate surgery. The relation between workload and personal well-being among university professors

The aim of the present study was to explore the level of perceived workload of university professors and to evaluate related psychosocial risks, such as addiction to work, psychological distress, and work–life conflicts. A total of 252 professors, balanced for gender (Mean age = 48.1; DS: 5.1) from 10 different universities across Europe participated in the research. Participants completed the University’s Work Environment Survey, the Dutch Workaholism Scale, and The General Health Questionnaire. The results showed that workload, when linked to bureaucratic university practices, is a predisposing factor to a negative perception of work-related well-being among university professors.
