Risk of Contracting COVID-19, Personal Resources and Subjective Well-Being among Healthcare Workers: The Mediating Role of Stress and Meaning-Making
2021
The latest research suggests that the relationships between the risk of contracting COVID-19, personal resources and subjective well-being have rather an indirect character and can include the occurrence of mediating factors related to meaning-making processes and stress experiences. Protection motivation theory offers a theoretical paradigm that enables these associations to be thoroughly investigated and understood. The current study aimed to examine the mediating roles of meaning-making and stress in the relationship of risk of contracting COVID-19 and personal resources (self-efficacy and meaning in life) with subjective well-being among healthcare workers. A total of 225 healthcare wor…

Exploring Subjective Well-Being: Insights for researchers and practitioners
This dissertation aims at improving our knowledge about Subjective Well-Being (either in theory and in practice) by addressing the crucial question of which mechanisms explain people’s sense of well-being. We support the general hypothesis that while economic growth plays an essential role in increasing people’s life standards, the subjective well-being is in part explained by noneconomic factors. These include individual psychological traits, generalised levels of trust, social support and involvement in social activities. The results of this thesis, may serve as a reference point for educators, researchers, policy-makers, and all those working in the field.

The sample comprised 501 university students. Data were collected using a self-administered survey. Path analysis revealed that LTPA positively predicted perceived physical ability. BMI and perceived physical ability predicted body dissatisfaction (positively and negatively, respectively). Body dissatisfaction negatively predicted subjective vitality, whereas perceived physical ability positively predicted subjective vitality. These results support the inclusion of LTPA in intervention programs t…
Predictive variables of happiness in private sports centres
2018
The psychological investigation of happiness has increased significantly in recent decades to the point of becoming one of the most researched behaviours in the new field of Positive Psychology. However, relatively little progress has been made in happiness research and tests to evaluate happiness, and the Oxford Happiness Inventory (OHI), built by Argyle, Martin and Crossland (1989), is among the best-known and most accredited. Happiness has represented a challenging and frustrating quest for humanity, as there is no consensus on its definition. Bearing in mind that there are many ambiguous factors that can affect the happiness of the individual, this study focuses on analysing the variabl…

Rezultāti norāda uz atšķirībām respondentu draudzības funkciju novērtējumā trīs dažādu veidu draugiem: (1) draugiem, kuri tiek satikti ikdienas dzīvē (reāli draugi); (2) draugiem, kuri iepriekš satikti klātienē, tomēr dažādu apstākļu dēļ komunikā…

2015
