This study employs sequential conversation analysis and membership categorization analysis to codeswitching multiethnic, multicultural and multilingual Japanese-English speakers. The research examines how participants accomplish social actions and goals such as teasing, planning schedules, complaining about family members, and being friends. In doing these social actions, transportable ethnic, linguistic, and cultural identities become emergent. Understanding the role of cross-language transfer of phonological awareness in emergent Hindi–English biliteracy acquisition

AbstractThis study examined within and cross-language relations, and specifically, the role of phonological awareness (PA) skills in reading among young Hindi-speaking children (L1) who were learning to read English (L2) in Delhi, India. Data was collected from 143 children in Grades 1 and 2 using measures validated for this population. The analyses examined the associations between L1 and L2 PA and decoding, both within and across the two languages. The results showed that PA skills within each language significantly predicted decoding in that language. The aim of the study is to explore situational, cultural and pragmatic factors that might trigger code-switching during informal conversations outside of the classroom at school among bilingual adolescents in Haparanda, Helsinki and Stockholm. An attempt is made to clarify different functions of code-switching, i.e. why bilingual adolescents code-switch from Swedish to Finnish and vice versa. Vaikka kaksikielisyyttä perheissä on tutkittu laajalti, identiteetin rakentumisen näkökulmasta tutkimuksia on suhteellisen vähän. This systematic review focuses on primary and secondary education, and examines peer-reviewed empirical research on CLIL implementation in Greece from 2006 to 2020.
