Camera-based measurement of relative image contrast in projection displays

International audience; This research investigated the measured contrast of projection displays based on pictures taken by un-calibrated digital cameras under typical viewing conditions. A high-end radiometer was employed as a reference to the physical response of projection luminance. Checkerboard, gray scale and color complex test images with a range of the projector's brightness and contrast settings were projected. Two local and two global contrast metrics were evaluated on the acquired pictures. The "Cooperative Airborne Radiometer for Ocean and Land Studies" (CAROLS) L-Band radiometer was designed and built as a copy of the EMIRAD II radiometer constructed by the Technical University of Denmark team. It is a fully polarimetric and direct sampling correlation radiometer. The aim of the present methodological article was to assess whether a microstructure of hole-exploratory activity can be demonstrated in rats tested in the hole-board, an experimental assay widely used to study anxiety-related behaviors in rodents. Six never properly described hole exploratory behavioral components were identified: active-dip, static-dip, rapid-dip, circular-sniff, point-sniff and central-sniff. The optical multiplexer board is one of the elements present in the read out chain of the tile calorimeter in ATLAS experiment. Due to radiation effects, two optical fibers with the same data come out from the front end boards to this board, which has to decide in real time which one carries good data and pass them to the read out driver motherboard for processing. This paper describes the design and tests of the first prototype, implemented as a 6U VME64x slave module, including both hardware and firmware aspects. In this paper, a preliminary PCB board for the electromagnetic interference (EMI) characterization of innovative silicon-carbide (SiC) based switching devices is presented. Packaging technological issues can determine hurdles in the high-frequency switching and high power regime where wide band gap semiconductors are intended today for Electric Vehicle (EV) applications.
