The impact of IT and customer orientation on building trust and commitment in the supply chain

2008

The application of information technologies (IT) to logistics activities may have benefits beyond cost savings, as it can create bonds between the supply chain partners. The objective of this paper is to analyse the influence of customer orientation on the application of IT to the supply chain and of these on the development of channel relationships based on trust and commitment. A questionnaire-based personal survey was conducted among manufacturers. Structural equation modelling was used to test the hypothesis contained in the theoretical model. The results indicate that customer orientation affects the application of IT to logistics, and IT has a positive impact on manufacturer and suppl…

Key Elements in Building Relationships in the Higher Education Services Context

2015

In a context of globalized higher education, new stakeholders have emerged, and building stronger relationships between them is of the utmost relevance in today's environment. The approach from the graduate perspective helps reinforce bonds and manage lifelong learning in an innovative way. This study empirically tests a model that includes variables such as university image, student–professor interaction, satisfaction, identification, and loyalty, which are topics of increasing relevance for competitive and innovative universities. The results show the relationships among the variables, which can explain loyalty behavioral intentions. The article concludes with the managerial implications …

Halogen bonding stabilizes a cis-azobenzene derivative in the solid state : A crystallographic study

2017

Crystals oftrans- andcis-isomers of a fluorinated azobenzene derivative have been prepared and characterized by single-crystal X-ray diffraction. The presence of F atoms on the aromatic core of the azobenzene increases the lifetime of the metastablecis-isomer, allowing single crystals of thecis-azobenzene to be grown. Structural analysis on thecis-azobenzene, complemented with density functional theory calculations, highlights the active role of the halogen-bond contact (N...I synthon) in promoting the stabilization of thecis-isomer. The presence of a long aliphatic chain on the azobenzene unit induces a phase segregation that stabilizes the molecular arrangement for both thetrans- andcis-i…

Thermo-oxidative stabilization of poly(lactic acid) with antioxidant intercalated layered double hydroxides

2016

Two antioxidant modified layered double hydroxides (AO-LDHs) were successfully prepared by the intercalation of 3-(3,5-di-tert-butyl-4-hydroxyphenyl)propionic acid (IrganoxCOOH) and 6-hydroxy-2,5,7,8-tetramethylchroman-2-carboxylic acid (Trolox) in the layered structure of LDH. It was found that by anchoring the phenolic moieties to the LDH layers the antioxidant power is retained in the case of Trolox, and even amplified in the case of IrganoxCOOH. A small amount of the two AO-LDHs was incorporated into poly(lactic acid), PLA, by solution mixing and melt extrusion. The thermo-oxidative stability of the composites was compared with that of the neat PLA and PLA containing free AOs. SEC analy…

Silanol-POSS as dispersing agents for carbon nanotubes in polyamide

2017

Silanol polyhedrad oligomeric silsesquiosane terminated with phenyl rings (phPOSS) has been considered as dispersing agent for carbon nanotubes (CNTs) in polyamide (PA) matrix. Two different approaches have been followed for the introduction of the phPOSS molecules: a “classical” approach which involves the introduction of the dispersing agent during the melt mixing, and an “innovative” approach, consisting in the immobilization, either covalent and non-covalent, of phPOSS molecules onto CNTs surface. The properties of PA-based nanocomposites, containing free phPOSS molecules and phPOSS molecules immobilized onto the CNTs outer surface, have been evaluated through rheological, mecha…

Poly-l-Lactic Acid Nanofiber-Polyamidoamine Hydrogel Composites: Preparation, Properties, and Preliminary Evaluation as Scaffolds for Human Pluripote…

2016

Electrospun poly-l-lactic acid (PLLA) nanofiber mats carrying surface amine groups, previously introduced by nitrogen atmospheric pressure nonequilibrium plasma, are embedded into aqueous solutions of oligomeric acrylamide-end capped AGMA1, a biocompatible polyamidoamine with arg-gly-asp (RGD)-reminiscent repeating units. The resultant mixture is finally cured giving PLLA-AGMA1 hydrogel composites that absorb large amounts of water and, in the swollen state, are translucent, soft, and pliable, yet as strong as the parent PLLA mat. They do not split apart from each other when swollen in water and remain highly flexible and resistant, since the hydrogel portion is covalently grafted onto the …

Organic-inorganic nanocomposites prepared by reactive suspension method: investigation on filler/matrix interactions and their effect on the nanopart…

2017

Epoxy resin/TiO2 nanocomposites prepared by both reactive suspension method, based on in situ synthesis, and conventional mechanical mixing are analysed by solid-state nuclear magnetic resonance and transmission electron microscopy in order to have a deeper insight into the nature of interactions at the polymer/particle interface and their effect on the nanoparticles dispersion. Specifically, solid-state nuclear magnetic resonance experiments showed that the nanoparticles, synthesized by reactive suspension method, can efficiently link the matrix by hydrogen bonds forming a hybrid organic-inorganic 3D network. Such evidences strongly supports our previously reported theory, in which the nan…

Mechanical and Structural Tuning of Reversible Hydrogen Bonding in Interlocked Calixarene Nanocapsules

2019

We present force probe molecular dynamics simulations of dimers of interlocked calixarene nanocapsules and study the impact of structural details and solvent properties on the mechanical unfolding pathways. The system consists of two calixarene "cups" that form a catenane structure via interlocked aliphatic loops of tunable length. The dimer shows reversible rebinding, and the kinetics of the system can be understood in terms of a two-state model for shorter loops (≤14 CH2 units) and a three-state model for longer loops (≥15 CH2 units). The various conformational states of the dimer are stabilized by networks of hydrogen bonds, the mechanical susceptibility of which can be altered by changi…

Microscopic properties of liquid water from combined ab initio molecular dynamics and energy decomposition studies

2013

The application of newly developed first-principle modeling techniques to liquid water deepens our understanding of the microscopic origins of its unusual macroscopic properties and behaviour. Here, we review two novel ab initio computational methods: second-generation Car-Parrinello molecular dynamics and decomposition analysis based on absolutely localized molecular orbitals. We show that these two methods in combination not only enable ab initio molecular dynamics simulations on previously inaccessible time and length scales, but also provide unprecedented insights into the nature of hydrogen bonding between water molecules. We discuss recent applications of these methods to water cluste…

Interfacial Domain Formation Enhances Electrochemical Synthesis.

2019

The electroorganic C,C coupling of phenols to other aryl components is controlled by the fluoroalcohol-alcohol mixture solvents. Classical molecular dynamics and static density functional theory reveal that both kinds of solvents interact with the substrates, influencing the electronic structure of a phenoxyl radical intermediate in a cooperative manner to achieve maximal efficiency and selectivity. Simulations of the electrolyte-electrode interface showed that the substrates adsorb on the diamond surface in such a way that the repulsive fluorous-lipophilic interactions can be minimized and the attractive lipophilic-lipophilic interplay can be maximized, whereas the advantageous hydrogen bo…
