Constructing a pedagogical practice across disciplines in pre-service teacher education

In this paper we report a qualitative case study of a teaching intervention in which a pre-service subject teacher pair planned and conducted a course integrating Finnish language and ethics in a multilingual setting. Audio-recorded planning sessions and interviews including learning diaries were analysed using qualitative content analysis to identify the dynamics of collaborative cross-curricular pedagogical practice development and pedagogical language knowledge. The analysis revealed tensions in crossing the boundary between language and content knowledge. AbstractThe purpose of this article is to explore a hybrid community-based form of care for older people called adult foster care. In the article, the nature of the foster care home as a place of care is explored from the foster carers’ point-of-view. It is based on an interview study of 12 foster carers. In this article, the theoretical frameworks from human geography and work–family research are combined in order to analyse the boundaries between private family-life and public work-life in the particular space of the foster care home. Darbā izstrādāti jauni speciāli algoritmi parasto un parciālo diferenciālvienādojumu problēmu ar periodiskajiem nosacījumiem skaitliskai modelēšanai, kuri balstās uz precīzā spektra izmantošanu telpisko parciālo atvasinājuma aproksimēšanai ar galīgajām diferencēm. Algoritmi tiek veidoti dažādām divdimensiju matemātiskās fizikas problēmām (lineārām un nelineārām), balstoties uz taišņu metodes algoritmiem un precīzā spektra diferenču shēmām. BEM analysis of a piezoelectric structural health monitoring system for delamination detection

In the present work a piezoelectric based structural health monitoring (SHM) system is analyzed with the aim of assessing the ability of the piezoelectric patch to detect both edge and embedded delaminations proper of flange-skin composite laminated structures. he boundary element model is developed for piezoelectric solids and is implemented by taking advantage of the multidomain technique to model laminated and cracked configurations. A Cohesive-frictional Grain-boundary Technique for Microstructural Analysis of Polycrystalline Materials

The development of a 3D microstructural model for the analysis of degradation and failure in polycrystalline materials is reviewed in the present chapter. The material is explicitly modelled at the grain level, using integral equations in conjunction with a phenomenological crystal plasticity framework for the bulk grains, and with cohesive-frictional laws to represent inter-granular micro-cracking processes. The method allows to capture the initiation, development and coalescence of damage or plasticity at the aggregate scale. On the Porosity of Free Boundaries in Degenerate Variational Inequalities

Abstract In this note we consider a certain degenerate variational problem with constraint identically zero. The exact growth of the solution near the free boundary is established. A consequence of this is that the free boundary is porous and therefore its Hausdorff dimension is less than N and hence it is of Lebesgue measure zero.

In this study, the influence of porosity on the elastic effective properties of polycrystalline materials is investigated using a 3D grain boundary micro mechanical model. The volume fraction of pores, their size and distribution can be varied to better simulate the response of real porous materials. The formulation is built on a boundary integral representation of the elastic problem for the grains, which are modeled as 3D linearly elastic orthotropic domains with arbitrary spatial orientation.
