Phytochemical composition, anti-inflammatory and antitumour activities of four Teucrium essential oils from Greece

Abstract The essential oils of four Teucrium species were studied and 150 components, in all, were identified. All oils were rich in sesquiterpenes (50.1–55.8%). Spathulenol and δ-cadinene were the main compounds of Teucrium brevifolium oil; caryophyllene and 4-vinyl guaiacol predominated in Teucrium flavum . Carvacrol and caryophyllene oxide predominated in Teucrium montbretii ssp. heliotropiifolium , while carvacrol and caryophyllene were the most abundant components in Teucrium polium ssp. capitatum . In the present work the microbial dynamics in wheat kernels were evaluated over time. The main aim of this research was to study the resistance of lactic acid bacteria (LAB) and yeasts associated to unprocessed cereals used for bread making during long term conservation. To this purpose four Triticum durum Desf. genotypes including two modern varieties (Claudio and Simeto) and two Sicilian wheat landraces (Russello and Timilia) were analysed by a combined culture-independent and -dependent microbiological approach after one, two or three years from cultivation and threshing. In the course of the Middle Ages, apocryphal and hagiographic texts of The Acts of the Apostles of various origins became part of the Croatian Glagolitic literature. The Passion of Saint Andrew, for example, is documented in the sanctorale of nineteen Croatian Glagolitic breviaries dating from the period between the 14th and mid-16th centuries. The Glagolitic Passion is an abbreviated translation of the Latin Epistula presbyterorum et diaconorum Achaiae (BHL 428) from the 6th century. At the end of the 19th century, Spanish carnivals have been marked by the participation of the different tunas or also known as, estudiantinas. These groups achieved significant relevance in Galicia, especially in the city of Compostela, which, year after year, encouraged and supported the formation of groups of this nature to liven up the carnivals in the different Spanish cities. Este trabajo examina el arriesgado proceso de la adaptación y, en particular, el de la edición abreviada de las obras canónicas de la literatura para público infantil; utilizo mis propios esfuerzos para adaptar Los viajes de Gulliver como punto de partida para este análisis. En última instancia, la historia de Gulliver, como cualquier cuento canónico, va más allá de un texto fijado, pues existe en gran medida a través de la memoria y de la oralidad, un proceso colectivo que, en vez de fijar la historia, la libera, asegurando tanto su fluidez como su estabilidad mediante la adaptación y la readaptación.
