Dual-broadband rotational CARS modelling of nitrogen at pressures up to 9 MPa. II. Rotational Raman line widths

2002

International audience; Rotational coherent anti-Stokes Raman spectroscopy (CARS) is a well-established spectroscopic technique for thermometry at pre-combustion temperatures an atmospheric pressure. However, at pressures of several MPa, a previous investigation revealed large discrepancies between experimental data and the theoretical model. A re-evaluation has been made of these data (at room temperature and in the range 1.5-9 MPa) with two improvements to the spectral code. The first is the inclusion of an inter-branch interference effect, which is described in detail in Paper I. The second is the use of experimental S-1-branch Raman line widths measured at 295 K, with a temperature depe…

Telecom to mid-infrared supercontinuum generation in a silicon germanium waveguide

2015

We report the first demonstration of broadband supercontinuum generation in silicon-germanium waveguides. Upon propagation of ultra-short femtosecond pulses in a 3-cm-long waveguide, the broadening extended from 1.455µm to 2.788µm (at the −30-dB point).

Generation of broadband THz transients via metallic spintronic emitters driven by 20-fs pulses at 1030 nm

2020

We explore power and bandwidth scaling for the generation of highly-temporally-confined THz transients from spintronic emitters, driven by the 250-fs and 20-fs pulses of a high-power 28-MHz Yb-based laser, spectrally centered at 1030 nm.

Broadband microwave gas sensor: A coaxial design

2010

The method of gas detection by a broadband microwave gas sensor is presented in this article. The principle of this method is to use a sensitive material as substrate of a transmission coaxial line. The sensor represents an open line with an extreme surface in contact with gas. The interaction with the gas and the surface induces a dielectric variation of the substrate. From experimental results, the interaction between the sensitive material and each tested gas present a specific frequency spectrum of the reflection coefficient at the input of the line. The proposed method has the advantage of a compact size, wide bandwidth, simple structure, and capable with all sensitive materials. © 201…

Broadband Fabry–Pérot Resonator From Zerodur for Laser Stabilisation Below 1KHZ Linewidth With < 100 HZ/S Drift and Reduced Sensitivity to Vibrati…

2015

Abstract Here we demonstrate the results of creating a two-mirror Fabry-Pérot resonator (FPR) that allows achieving the spectral width of a stabilised laser line below 1 kHz. It had low expansion Zerodur spacer and broadband high reflectance mirrors (99.85% in the range of 630 to 1140 nm). FPR was vertically mid-plane mounted for reduced sensitivity to vibrations and included in two shields inside a vacuum chamber to lower temperature fluctuations. Peltier element was used for temperature stabilisation at zero-expansion temperature. Pound-Drever-Hall (PDH) technique was applied. The signal from FPR was compared to ultra-stable signal (of about 1 Hz linewidth) to form a beat note signal. For…

Broadband Tuning of Four-Wave Mixing Bands Using Photonic Crystal Fibers

2016

We present an experimental study of the shift with temperature of widely-spaced FWM parametric bands generated in an ethanol-inflltrated photonic crystal fiber. We report broadband tuning of 175 nm and over 500 nm for the signal and idler bands, respectively, achieved through the thermo-optic effect. Numerical calculations were carried out and show good agreement with experimental data.

Affordable, ultra-broadband coherent detection of terahertz pulses via CMOS-compatible solid-state devices

2017

We demonstrate the first fully solid-state technique for the coherent detection of ultra-broadband THz pulses (0.1-10 THz), relying on the electric-field-induced second-harmonic generation attained in integrated CMOS-compatible devices.

Broadband asymmetric transmission of THz radiation through double metallic gratings

2013

We analyse numerically and experimentally the asymmetric transmission through sub-wavelength double metallic gratings. The possibility of achieving a broadband unidirectional transmission of THz waves through the grating is confirmed. The proposed gratings allow for efficient one-way transmission in the wavelength range from 2.5 to 3.5 mm.

Asymmetric transmission of terahertz radiation through a double grating.

2013

We report on experimental evidence of unidirectional transmission of terahertz waves through a pair of metallic gratings with different periods. The gratings are optimized for a broadband transmission in one direction, accompanied with a high extinction rate in the opposite direction. In contrast to previous studies, we show that the zero-order nonreciprocity cannot be achieved. Nonetheless, we confirm that the structure can be used successfully as an asymmetric filter.
