Stereoselective synthesis of glycosides and anomeric azides of glucosamine

1992

The β-azide of O-acetyl protected N-acetyl glucosamine is efficiently accessible via a phasetransfer-catalyzed reaction of the corresponding glycosyl chloride with sodium azide. The azido group revealed to be a useful anomeric protection for modifications of the protecting group pattern of the glucosamine unit. Exchange of the O-acyl groups by 4-methoxybenzylidene and 4-methoxybenzyl (Mpm) protection delivered regioselectively blocked glucosaminyl azide derivatives. In contrast, the N-phthaloyl protected glucosaminyl azide was obtained quantitatively from the corresponding glycosyl fluoride via a boron trifluoride-promoted reaction with trimethylsilyl azide. N-Phthaloyl glucosaminyl fluorid…

Visualization of Moiré Magnons in Monolayer Ferromagnet

2023

| openaire: EC/H2020/788185/EU//E-DESIGN Two-dimensional magnetic materials provide an ideal platform to explore collective many-body excitations associated with spin fluctuations. In particular, it should be feasible to explore, manipulate, and ultimately design magnonic excitations in two-dimensional van der Waals magnets in a controllable way. Here we demonstrate the emergence of moiré magnon excitations, stemming from the interplay of spin-excitations in monolayer CrBr3 and the moiré pattern arising from the lattice mismatch with the underlying substrate. The existence of moiré magnons is further confirmed via inelastic quasiparticle interference, showing the appearance of a dispersion …

Epicyanohydrin: Polymerization by Monomer Activation Gives Access to Nitrile-, Amino-, and Carboxyl-Functional Poly(ethylene glycol)

2015

Both homo- and copolymerization of the hitherto nonpolymerizable epoxide monomer epicyanohydrin (EPICH) with ethylene oxide (EO) have been studied, employing the monomer activation technique. Tetraoctylammonium bromide or tetrabutylammonium iodide was used as initiator combined with i-Bu3Al to activate the EPICH monomer. The EPICH content was varied from 4 to 16 mol %, yielding well-defined PEG-co-PEPICH copolymers with molecular weights Mn (SEC) ranging from 3700 to 8800 g mol–1. The nitrile groups of the resulting polyethers were further reduced or hydrolyzed to introduce amino, amide, or carboxyl groups at the polyether backbone, circumventing protecting group chemistry. Successful trans…

ChemInform Abstract: Synthesis of (E)- and (Z)-29-Methylidyne-2,3-oxidosqualene Derivatives as Inhibitors of Liver and Yeast Oxidosqualene Cyclase.

2010

The synthesis of (E)- and (Z)-29-methylidyne-2,3-oxidosqualene derivatives is described starting from the C22 and C17 squalene aldehyde monobromohydrins. The conversion was achieved by means of a Wittig reaction, followed by desilylation of the terminal acetylene. For trisubstituted 1,3-enynes, preliminary alkylation with a suitable allyl bromide was performed. A new procedure for the synthesis of squalene aldehyde C27, C22 and C17 monobromohydrins is also described. Some of the new compounds behaved as inhibitors of pig liver and yeast oxidosqualene cyclase and were time-dependent inhibitors of the animal enzyme.

Mössbauer spectroscopic studies of clusters Mn2(CO)8[μ-Sn(hal)Mn(CO)5]2 (hal = Cl, Br) and related Mn and Re compounds

1977

Abstract In order to be acquainted with the nature of bonds at Sn involved in the title compounds, as well as to get information on the configuration of the strictly related derivatives I2Sn2Mn4(CO)18 and Cl2Sn2Re4(CO)18, the Mossbauer spectroscopic investigation reported in this paper has been carried out. The experimental parameters (isomer shifts, δ; nuclear quadrupole splittings, ΔE; for the bromide derivative only, the asymmetry parameter η and the sign of the nuclear quadrupole coupling constant e2qQ) have been discussed in connection with data concerning compounds with tin-transition metal bonds, mainly hal2Sn[Mn(CO)5]2 (hal = Cl, Br) and ClSn[Mn(CO)5]3. Rationalizations of ΔE and η …

Detection and localisation of disulphide bonds in a synthetic peptide reproducing the sequence 1-30 of Par j 1.0101 by electrospray ionisation mass s…

2001

The structural characterisation of a synthetic peptide reproducing the sequence 1–30 of Par j 1.0101, a major allergenic protein present in the pollen of Parietaria judaica, by combined use of chemical and enzymatic cleavage, reversed-phase high-performance liquid chromatography (RP-HPLC) and electrospray ionisation mass spectrometry (ESI-MS), is described. Direct ESI-MS of the synthetic peptide after reaction with methyl iodide showed that the product is a mixture of two peptides: one form in which two out of the four cysteine residues present in the sequence are oxidised and a minor amount of another form in which all the cysteines are fully reduced. It was ascertained, using the combined…
