Generality of Henstock-Kurzweil type integral on a compact zero-dimensional metric space

2011

ABSTRACT A Henstock-Kurzweil type integral on a compact zero-dimensional metric space is investigated. It is compared with two Perron type integrals. It is also proved that it covers the Lebesgue integral.

Random cutout sets with spatially inhomogeneous intensities

2015

We study the Hausdorff dimension of Poissonian cutout sets defined via inhomogeneous intensity measures on Ahlfors-regular metric spaces. We obtain formulas for the Hausdorff dimension of such cutouts in self-similar and self-conformal spaces using the multifractal decomposition of the average densities for the natural measures.

Geometry and quasisymmetric parametrization of Semmes spaces

2014

We consider decomposition spaces R/G that are manifold factors and admit defining sequences consisting of cubes-with-handles. Metrics on R/G constructed via modular embeddings of R/G into Euclidean spaces promote the controlled topology to a controlled geometry. The quasisymmetric parametrizability of the metric space R/G×R by R for any m ≥ 0 imposes quantitative topological constraints, in terms of the circulation and the growth of the cubes-with-handles, to the defining sequences for R/G. We give a necessary condition and a sufficient condition for the existence of parametrization. The necessary condition answers negatively a question of Heinonen and Semmes on quasisymmetric parametrizabi…

Poisson Geometry in Mathematics and Physics

2008

We realize quantized anti de Sitter space black holes, building Connes spectral triples, similar to those used for quantized spheres but based on Universal Deformation Quantization Formulas (UDF) obtained from an oscillatory integral kernel on an appropriate symplectic symmetric space. More precisely we first obtain a UDF for Lie subgroups acting on a symplectic symmetric space M in a locally simply transitive manner. Then, observing that a curvature contraction canonically relates anti de Sitter geometry to the geometry of symplectic symmetric spaces, we use that UDF to define what we call Dirac-isospectral noncommutative deformations of the spectral triples of locally anti de Sitter black…

A fixed point theorem for G-monotone multivalued mapping with application to nonlinear integral equations

2017

We extend notion and theorem of [21] to the case of a multivalued mapping defined on a metric space endowed with a finite number of graphs. We also construct an example to show the generality of our result over existing results. Finally, we give an application to nonlinear integral equations

On generalized weakly G-contraction mapping in G-metric spaces

2011

AbstractIn this paper, we establish some common fixed point results for two self-mappings f and g on a generalized metric space X. To prove our results we assume that f is a generalized weakly G-contraction mapping of types A and B with respect to g.

Flavobacterium columnare colony types: connection to adhesion and virulence?

2008

Four different colony morphologies were produced by Flavobacterium columnare strains on Shieh agar plate cultures: rhizoid and flat (type 1), non-rhizoid and hard (type 2), round and soft (type 3), and irregularly shaped and soft (type 4). Colonies produced on AO agar differed from these to some extent. The colony types formed on Shieh agar were studied according to molecular characteristics [Amplified Fragment Length Polymorphism (AFLP), Automated Ribosomal Intergenic Spacer Analysis (ARISA), and whole cell protein SDS-PAGE profiles], virulence on rainbow trout fingerlings, and adhesion on polystyrene and fish gills. There were no molecular differences between colony types within one strai…

Phospholipid distribution in the cytoplasmic membrane of Gram-negative bacteria is highly asymmetric, dynamic, and cell shape-dependent

2020

The cell shape of Gram-negative bacteria is maintained metabolically by asymmetric lipid distribution in biogenic plasma membrane.

The role of Components of the Outer Membrane of Gram-Negative Bacteria in the Serum-Bactericidal Effect

1982

Abstract Effective killing-capacity of normal human and guinea pig sera depended on Ca ++ , C1q, C2 and C4. Fixation- and transfer-tests revealed that C1 and C1q were bound more tightly to the serum-sensitive R-forms of Salmonella strains than to the serum-resistant S-forms. Since all experiments were done in the absence of antibodies these findings provide evidence that the antibody-independent C1-binding is one of the initial reactions of the serum-mediated killing. This reaction seems to be influenced by the sugar-portion of the lipopolysaccharide (LPs) of the outer membrane: C1-binding to the bacteria occurs with higher affinity the shorter the LPS-molecule. This indicates that other ou…
