Feste e simboli rituali
2013
Reforma kalendarza i roku liturgicznego od Soboru Trydenckiego do Soboru Watykańskiego II
2021
The duty of the Church is to solemnly celebrate the saving work of Jesus Christ throughout the year on fixed days. Life has shown that feasts were gradually established through which the Mother of God, Mary, was honoured. In addition, there were introduced numerous commemorations of martyrs and other saints who became examples for successive generations of Christ’s followers how to heroically fulfil the principles contained in the Gospel. Thus, the liturgical year developed over the centuries as a result of a specific evolution influenced by various conditions. The dates and rules of celebrating particular celebrations were regulated by liturgical calendars. The process of development and a…

The changing scenario of hepatocellular carcinoma in Italy: an update
2021
Background and aims: Epidemiology of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is changing in most areas of the world. This study aimed at updating the changing scenario of aetiology, clinical presentation, management and prognosis of HCC in Italy during the last 15 years. Methods: Retrospective analysis of the Italian Liver Cancer (ITA.LI.CA) database included 6034 HCC patients managed in 23 centres from 2004 to 2018. Patients were divided into three groups according to the date of cancer diagnosis (2004-2008, 2009-2013 and 2014-2018). Results: The main results were: (i) a progressive patient ageing; (ii) a progressive increase of non-viral cases and, particularly, of ‘metabolic’ and ‘metabolic + alc…
Northern Drosophila montana flies show variation both within and between cline populations in the critical day length evoking reproductive diapause
2013
Reproductive diapause, and its correct timing, plays an important role in the life cycle of many insect species living in a seasonally varying environment at high latitudes. In the present paper we have documented variation in the critical day length (CDL) for adult reproductive diapause and the steepness of photoperiodic response curves (PPRCs) in seven clinal populations of Drosophila montana in Finland between the latitudes 61 and 67°N, paying special attention to variation in these traits within and between cline populations. The isofemale lines representing these populations showed a sharp transition from 0% to 100% in females' diapause incidence in the shortening day lengths, indicate…
АНТРОПОМОРФНЫЙ ВОТИВНЫЙ ХЛЕБ В ИТАЛЬЯНСКИХ ПРАЗДНИКАХ
2014
In Italy there are various records of the recurring presence of ceremonial breads; among these we may observe votive anthropomorphic breads, in particular in Sicily. These “special” breads are prepared for calendar festivals, for the patron saints’ days celebrations or anyway for celebrations of particular relevance for single communities, being connected to critical phases of the wheat cycle: that is to say, the month of May, the earing season, and June—July, the harvest season. This allows us to make the hypothesis that a devotional and votive value as regards these breads might be added to a more ancient logic of offerings to deities, connected to a vision of the rural world. In this sen…
