This research deals with the evolution of two of the main ciuitates of the Lugdunensis prima province. It explores their territorial organisation, social and economic structures between the emergence of the Gallic Empire (260 AD) and the end of the kingdom of the Burgundians (530 AD).After tackling the methodological, archeological and historical issues raised by the study of the two ciuitates, it focuses on the city of Autun, on its small neighbouring towns (including Chalon), rural areas and religious practices. The α-proteobacterial genus Bartonella comprises a group of ubiquitous mammalian pathogens that are studied as a model for the evolution of bacterial pathogenesis. Vast abundance of two particular phylogenetic lineages of Bartonella had been linked to enhanced host adaptability enabled by lineage-specific acquisition of a VirB/D4 type IV secretion system (T4SS) and parallel evolution of complex effector repertoires. For decades, national states have confronted various challenges to the democratic form of government. In such a highly complex frame, the question is, can public participation to policymaking still be a way to reach a more effective governance? In this chapter, I will attempt to demonstrate how inclusive bottom-up decision-making could improve the results of single projects and of wider European public policies. In the first part, I describe the European frame in which inclusive policymaking was born; then, in the second part, I analyse the Oltre project and its results as an example of participatory practices.

Because of containment policies, migrants between departure and destination encounter barriers and gray zones. They remain trapped in these places, where the asymmetry of power is exercised by force. Such places are tolerated as they are functional to the capitalist system. Planned refugee camps are part of this system; they are conceived as temporary devices to save human lives but are organized externally and self-organization is prevented. Can our discipline re-appropriate these issues often delegated to political and functionalist choices and provide effective answers? In the global landscape of migration, the experience of the Sahrawi can be a model of self-management and participation.

We report on our signal to noise ratio (SNR) measurements carried out, in the continuous wave regime, on a novel class of silicon photomultipliers (SiPMs) fabricated in planar technology on silicon p-type substrate. SiPMs are large area detectors consisting of a parallel array of Geiger Mode APDs with individual integrated quenching resistors. Each photodiode is an independent photon counting microcell and is connected to a common analog output to produce a summation signal proportional to the number of detected photons [1], [2]. SNR of SiPMs is expressed by the ratio of the SiPM average signal current and the RMS deviation of the overall current (i.e., the overall shot noise current). The …
