This paper presents a computer tool called DSC (Simulation based Controllers Design) that enables an easy design of control systems and strategies applied to wastewater treatment plants. Although the control systems are developed and evaluated by simulation, this tool aims to facilitate the direct implementation of the designed control system to the PC of the full-scale WWTP (wastewater treatment plants). The designed control system can be programmed in a dedicated control application and can be connected to either the simulation software or the SCADA of the plant. Abstract A new approach for the prediction of central bursting defects in extrusion and drawing is proposed: a finite element analysis of the processes has been carried out, and the obtained results have been elaborated by means of a post-processor, which, employing a proper ductile fracture criterion, is able to suggest if and where the central burst occur. The process capability analysis is a crucial activity to evaluate if the process outcome meets the design specifications. Classically, such analysis is performed by verifying the in-control condition of the process and evaluating suitable capability indices, by assuming the process in-control steady-state condition. There is a need to better understand improvement of software inspection practices. Typically process improvement is driven by different reference models like CMMI. In the previous work we found that such model based approach alone didn’t provide sufficient support for inspection process improvement. This paper outlines an overall picture of inspection process improvement and four different approaches for it. These approaches are seen as complementary and the focus of the paper is on describing their role in the improvement process.

AbstractThe present study examined the multiple micro- and macro-level factors that affect individuals’ financial behaviour under economic strain. The following sociodemographic and economic factors that predict financial behaviour were analysed: age group, year of data gathering, and attitudes towards consumption (economical, deprived, and hedonistic). Subjective financial situations and demographic characteristics were controlled for. This article, through a case study from the Plateforme d'Observation des projets et stratégies urbaines (POPSU) program in Tournus, questions the notion of food democracy and its link with territorial capability. The observation and analysis of the dynamics of this participatory research allow us to enrich the concept of food democracy by crossing it with other theoretical perspectives (in particular the capability approach). They also highlight certain conditions for its effectiveness and raise the question of the relationship between food democracy and public policy. Finally, they invite researchers working on these issues to adopt an involved posture.
