Endringskapasitet – en nøkkel for å lykkes med gevinstrealisering i spesialisthelsetjenesten? : En studie av hvordan mellomledere opplever at endring…
2018
Masteroppgave i helse- og sosialinformatikk HSI500 - Universitetet i Agder 2018 Background: If an organisation is to reap the potential benefits of new technology, it must modify its work processes. However, the specialist health service appears to be experiencing significant challenges because it is constantly under pressure to change and improve its efficiency. This can weaken its capacity for change and, at worst, lead to long-term reductions in productivity and efficiency. Purpose: The purpose of this study is to examine how middle managers in the specialist health service feel they can influence developments in change capacity. The aim is to contribute to an awareness of the importance…
On the statistical properties of the capacity of OSTBC Nakagami-lognormal MIMO channels
2010
This article presents a thorough statistical analysis of the capacity of orthogonal space-time block coded (OSTBC) Nakagami-lognormal (NLN) multiple-input multipleoutput (MIMO) channels. The NLN channel model allows to study the joint effects of fast fading and shadowing on the statistical properties of the channel capacity. We have derived exact analytical expressions for the probability density function (PDF), cumulative distribution function (CDF), level-crossing rate (LCR), and average duration of fades (ADF) of the capacity of NLN MIMO channels. It is observed that an increase in the MIMO dimension1 or a decrease in the severity of fading results in an increase in the mean channel capa…
The Influence of the Severity of Fading and Shadowing on the Statistical Properties of the Capacity of Nakagami-Lognormal Channels
2008
This paper deals with the study of the statistical properties of the capacity of Nakagami-lognormal (NLN) channels for various fading environments. Specifically, the impact of shadowing and the severity of fading on the channel capacity is investigated. We have derived analytical expressions for the probability density function (PDF), cumulative distribution function (CDF), level-crossing rate (LCR), and average duration of fades (ADF) of the channel capacity. These results are analyzed for different levels of shadowing and for various fading conditions, corresponding to different terrestrial environments. It is observed that the severity of fading and shadowing has a significant influence …
On the statistical properties of the capacity of double Hoyt fading channels
2010
The statistical properties of the capacity of narrowband double Hoyt fading channels are studied. Toward this end, analytical expressions for the probability density function (PDF) and cumulative distribution function (CDF) of the instantaneous channel capacity process are derived. Furthermore, for the characterization of the dynamical behavior of the time-varying channel capacity, expressions are provided for the level-crossing rate (LCR) and the average duration of fades (ADF). Since the double Rayleigh fading channel is a special case of the double Hoyt model, it is shown that the derived expressions can be reduced to the corresponding results already known for the capacity of the double…
Symbolic control for underactuated differentially flat systems
2006
In this paper we address the problem of generating input plans to steer complex dynamical systems in an obstacle-free environment. Plans considered admit a finite description length and are constructed by words on an alphabet of input symbols, which could be e.g. transmitted through a limited capacity channel to a remote system, where they can be decoded in suitable control actions. We show that, by suitable choice of the control encoding, finite plans can be efficiently built for a wide class of dynamical systems, computing arbitrarily close approximations of a desired equilibrium in polynomial time. Moreover, we illustrate by simulations the power of the proposed method, solving the steer…
Channel capacity of fading channels for differentially encoded transmission
1999
The capacity of flat fading channels when applying differential encoding with noncoherent reception and no channel state information available at the receiver is considered. Numerical results indicate the gains achievable by multiple symbol detection in the case of slowly time-varying channels and provide a comparison between schemes with different potential bandwidth efficiencies.
Statistical properties of the capacity of multipath fading channels
2009
It is well known that a frequency-nonselective multipath fading channel can be modeled by a sum of complex sinusoids, also called sum-of-cisoids (SOC). By using the SOC, we can efficiently model the scattered component of the received signal in non-isotropic scattering environments. Such SOC-based multipath channel models provide the flexibility of having correlated in-phase and quadrature phase components of the received signal. This paper presents the derivation and analysis of the statistical properties of the capacity of multipath fading channels under LOS conditions. As an appropriate stochastic model for the multipath fading channel, we have adopted the SOC model. We have derived the …
Microstructure–property relation and machine learning prediction of hole expansion capacity of high-strength steels
2021
Abstract The relationship between microstructure features and mechanical properties plays an important role in the design of materials and improvement of properties. Hole expansion capacity plays a fundamental role in defining the formability of metal sheets. Due to the complexity of the experimental procedure of testing hole expansion capacity, where many influencing factors contribute to the resulting values, the relationship between microstructure features and hole expansion capacity and the complexity of this relation is not yet fully understood. In the present study, an experimental dataset containing the phase constituents of 55 microstructures as well as corresponding properties, su…
Structural relaxation in a molten salt probed by time-dependent dc conductivity measurements
1998
Abstract Time-dependent dc conductivity was measured after cooling steps of about 2 K in the glass transformation range of 2Ca(NO 3 ) 2 -3RbNO 3 . The shape and time scale of the structural relaxation function was thus monitored for times 60 s t 6 s. The time scale could be compared with results from scanning calorimetry measurements and good agreement was found. From the heat capacity data and from the solid state conductivity the expected liquid state conductivity relaxation time was calculated using several models. The good compatibility of these calculations with the experimental results provides evidence that near the calorimetric glass transition the mobile ions perform concerted moti…
Heat-capacity and neutron-diffraction studies of HD monolayers physisorbed on graphite
1992
Abstract The phase diagram of HD monolayers physisorbed on graphite is studied in detail by using heat-capacity and neutron-diffraction measurements. The following features are observed: At low coverages the system forms a commensurate (C) (√3 × √3)R30° phase and at coverages near monolayer completion an incommensurate (IC) two-dimensional solid phase. The order-disorder transition of the C phase belongs to the three-state Potts universality class. The C-IC transition occurs via two intermediate phases, i.e., the α phase and a novel phase, which is interpreted as an α-IC coexistence region. Though the molecule HD is a strongly incoherent neutron scatterer, for the first time elastic neutron…
