Stock Market Integration and the Global Financial Crisis

We study the dynamics of stock market integration and its consequences during the recent financial crisis for twenty-three developed and sixty emerging markets. We find that integration increased slightly for emerging markets but decreased for developed countries during the crisis. Moreover, we argue that the high degree of integration propagated the crisis across the global financial markets at the beginning of the crisis, but it had little effect during the crisis. We also find that integration is mostly affected by financial openness, the institutional environment, and global financial uncertainty but that these determinants vary slightly between emerging and developed markets.

According to the well-known Clausius-Clapeyron relation, the maximum moisture content of the atmosphere increases with approximately 7% per degree temperature raise (CC-scaling rate). Under the hypothesis that relative humidity does not change, an increase in the water vapor should occur at the same rate. For this reason we could expect for the coming years an increase in the intensity of extreme precipitation as a consequence of the global climate warming. Bakalaura darbs – ‘’Melleņu rametu struktūras raksturojums dažādās mežaudzēs’’ izstrādāts laika posmā no 2014. gada augusta līdz 2016. gada maijam Latvijas Universitātes, Bioloģijas fakultātes, Botānikas un ekoloģijas katedrā un Latvijas Valsts mežzinātnes institūtā ‘’Silava’’. Darbā izmantoti Lindas Robaltes maģistra darba laikā ievāktie melleņu rametu struktūru dati (vecums, diametrs un augstums) (Robalte 2014). Par pētījuma vietu izvēlētas divas dažādas teritorijas – dabas liegums ‘’Gruzdovas meži’’ vecāko apzināto egļu dēļ (~ 273 gadi) un Slīteres nacionālā parka teritorija, jo arī tajā koki sasnieguši līdzīgu vecumu, bet tajā ir tipiskāki augšanas apstākļi mellenēm. Mellene ir sīkkrūmu suga, kas ir viena no biežāk sastopamajām zemsedzes veģetācijas sugām boreālo mežu ekosistēmās, tomēr tā netiek pietiekami novērtēta. Mellene pozitīvi ietekmē bioloģisko daudzveidību, un tās klātbūtne ir viens no rādītājiem par mežu augšanas apstākļu bagātināšanos. Līdzīgi kā kokiem arī mellenes gadskārtas sniedz informāciju par apstākļiem konkrētajā teritorijā, taču par īsāku laika periodu. Par pētījuma vietu izvēlēts Slīteres nacionālais parks un tā apkārtne, jo tajā pārstāvēti dažāda vecuma mētrāji, kā arī tādēļ, ka noteiktā Slīteres nacionālā parka teritorijā iepriekš veidojies degums.
