E-Sports y brecha de género: la percepción de las profesionales españolas

2019

The present paper aims to identify the causes of under-representation of women in E-sports. According to a genre perspective, interest in videogames at the amateur level is quite similar. However, in its professional level, female participation becomes very limited. The fact that physical effort is irrelevant (a requirement for ?traditional sports?) could be considered a variable that would negatively affect greater to equality in the conditions of access and participation of women in electronic sports. Against any predictions, the data on the presence of women are elocuent: few women, with much lower wages than men to remunerate same skills, and a general complaint by the female profession…

Decompressive Craniectomy Improves QTc Interval in Traumatic Brain Injury Patients

2020

Background: Traumatic brain injury (TBI) is commonly associated with cardiac dysfunction, which may be reflected by abnormal electrocardiograms (ECG) and/or contractility. TBI-related cardiac disorders depend on the type of cerebral injury, the region of brain damage and the severity of the intracranial hypertension. Decompressive craniectomy (DC) is commonly used to reduce intra-cranial hypertension (ICH). Although DC decreases ICH rapidly, its effect on ECG has not been systematically studied. The aim of this study was to analyze the changes in ECG in patients undergoing DC. Methods: Adult patients without previously known cardiac diseases treated for isolated TBI with DC were studied. EC…

Progetto di restauro, per la fruizione e la valorizzazione della chiesa di Santa Maria in Valverde

2021

The essay presents the methodological process used for the analysis of the state of conservation and of the accessibility problems present in the church of Santa Maria in Valverde in Palermo, built in the 17th century. XVII, above previous stratifications. Furthermore, the essay shows a proposal for restoration and accessibility to the same church which in the past had a churchyard that was eliminated after the mid-twentieth century to connect the street levels. The research was conducted within the Restoration and Theory and History of Restoration Laboratory and involved the students of the LM4 course in Architecture of the Palermo Department. The suggested solution was to rebuild a new ch…

Relationship Between Cannabis Use and Erectile Dysfunction: A Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis

2019

Globally, there is increasing usage and legalization of cannabis. In addition to its reported therapeutic effects, cannabis has several health risks which are not clearly defined. Erectile dysfunction (ED) is the most common male sexual disorder and there are plausible mechanisms linking cannabis use to ED. No attempt has been made to collate the literature on this topic. The aim of this review was to summarize the prevalence and risk of ED in cannabis users compared to controls. A systematic review of major databases from inception to January 1, 2019, without language restriction, was undertaken to identify studies investigating cannabis use and presence of ED. The analysis compared the p…

Displaying agency problems at the outset of psychotherapy

2016

In order to present him- or herself at the outset of psychotherapy as a credible client, the person needs to, on one hand, formulate a sense of lost agency in accounts of his/her life situation, and on the other, to present him- or herself as willing and able to take part in conversational self-exploration. In this study, we looked in detail at how one person, seeking psychotherapy, constructed accounts that served this double function. We sought to develop the usefulness of the concept of agency as an integrative theoretical construct of core processes in therapy and introduced a model of five aspects of agentic vs. non-agentic presentation, developed and applied in an earlier study on cli…

El edificio gremial de los abaixadors o tundidores, en Valencia

2020

In the ?barri del mercat?, in the city of Valencia and very close to its Lonja, there is a building complex which is the object of this study. The research, carried out from the simple field of toponymy, to the constructive analysis, lead us to suppose that it is the building of the Valencian trade union of cloth-shearers. It can be seen how the building now camouflaged by other subsequent interventions, corresponds to a type that cannot be related to those usually built in the city of Valencia. Its origins clearly from the Valencian self-governing period splendor, its dimensions and the finishes used in its construction seem to refer to a medieval workshop. Thermal anomalies detection in a photovoltaic plant using artificial intelligence: Italy case studies

2021

This paper proposes the application of artificial intelligence techniques for the identification of thermal anomalies that occur in a photovoltaic system due to malfunctions or faults, with the aim to limit the energy production losses by detecting faults at an early stage. The proposed approach is based on a Thermographic Non-Destructive Test conducted with Unmanned Aerial Vehicles equipped with a thermal imaging camera, which allows the detection of abnormal operating conditions without interrupting the normal operation of the PV system rapidly and cost-effectively. The thermographic images and videos are automatically inspected using a Convolutional Neural Network, developed by an open-s…

Exergoeconomics as a Cost-Accounting Method in Thermal Grids with the Presence of Renewable Energy Producers

2022

Thermal grids are efficient, reliable, and sustainable technologies for satisfying the thermal demands of buildings. The capability to operate at a low temperature allows not only for the integration of heat produced by renewable energy sources but also for the storage of surplus electricity from the grid via “power to heat” technologies. Besides, in the future, heat consumers are expected to behave increasingly as “prosumers”, supplying in some periods heat produced by renewable energy plants on site. In this scenario, it is important to propose a method for the cost allocation among producers connected to the grid. In this regard, this paper proposes Exergoeconomic…

A Quantitative Analysis of the Thermoelastic Effect in CFRP Composite Materials

2010

In this study the thermoelastic signal from carbon fibre-reinforced plastic (CFRP) laminates is investigated. A comparison between the theoretical and experimental values of the thermoelastic signal is reported, with the theoretical predictions obtained from two different quantitative models. These models are based on the classic thermoelastic effect law extended to the case of orthotropic materials (by using the mesomechanical or bulk approach), and the modified law assuming that the surface resin-rich layer behaves as a strain witness of the laminate. It is found that the theoretical predictions of the two models can be strongly and differently influenced by the intrinsic orthotropy of ca…
