Saslimstība ar ļaundabīgajiem nieru audzējiem palielinās katru gadu, visizteiktāk tas vērojams pasaules attīstītajās valstīs, kā arī Latvijā. Nieru šūnu karcinoma ir viens no visbiežākajiem ļaundabīgajiem nieru audzējiem. Agrīnajās stadijās nieru šūnu karcinomai nav raksturīga kāda konkrēta simptomātika un lielākajā daļā gadījumu, tā tiek diagnosticēta netīši- veicot izmeklējumus kādas citas saslimšanas gadījumā. Pēc tam, kad audzējs ir ticis diagnosticēts, ir būtiski izvērtēt pacienta vispārējo stāvokli un riska faktorus, no kā ir atkarīga pacientu kopējā dzīvildze un recidīva risks. Ja iespējams, noteikt histoloģisko nieru šūnu karcinomas subtipu un ņemot vērā šos faktorus, izvēlēties pie…
