The repat gene family encodes midgut proteins overexpressed in response to pathogen infection in the lepidopteran Spodoptera exigua. Up-regulation of repat genes has been observed after challenging the larvae with both Bacillus thuringiensis toxins and after infection with the baculovirus Autographa californica multiple nucleopolyhedrovirus. PTC124-mediated translational readthrough of a nonsense mutation causing Usher syndrome type 1C.

We investigated the therapeutic potential of the premature termination codon (PTC) readthrough-inducing drug PTC124 in treating the retinal phenotype of Usher syndrome, caused by a nonsense mutation in the USH1C gene. Applications in cell culture, organotypic retina cultures, and mice in vivo revealed significant readthrough and the recovery of protein function. In comparison with other readthrough drugs, namely the clinically approved readthrough-inducing aminoglycoside gentamicin, PTC124 exhibits significant better retinal biocompatibility. X-ray tomographic method for measuring three-dimensional deformation and water content distribution in swelling clays

A non-invasive method for simultaneous measurement of the 3D displacement field and the water content distribution of a wetted solid material is developed. The method is based on comparison of X-ray tomographic images of a material sample in the reference state and in the wetted and deformed state. The deformation and water content analyses were successfully compared with numerical results for a cylindrical rubber test sample under axial compression, and with gravimetric results from axially wetted and sliced cylindrical bentonite samples, respectively. The modern use of through-thickness reinforcement in wood glulam (glued laminated) beams, bridging the potential delamination crack faces, has shown to be an effective technological solution to improve their interlaminar fracture strength. Si avoir une activité salariée estessentiellement motivé par des raisons financières, cette activité n’est pas sans risques pour les études, surtout quand elle est intense.
