Density Flow in Dynamical Networks via Mean-Field Games

2016

Current distributed routing control algorithms for dynamic networks model networks using the time evolution of density at network edges, while the routing control algorithm ensures edge density to converge to a Wardrop equilibrium, which was characterized by an equal traffic density on all used paths. We rearrange the density model to recast the problem within the framework of mean-field games. In doing that, we illustrate an extended state-space solution approach and we study the stochastic case where the density evolution is driven by a Brownian motion. Further, we investigate the case where the density evolution is perturbed by a bounded adversarial disturbance. For both the stochastic a…

Game Theoretic Decentralized Feedback Controls in Markov Jump Processes

2017

This paper studies a decentralized routing problem over a network, using the paradigm of mean-field games with large number of players. Building on a state-space extension technique, we turn the problem into an optimal control one for each single player. The main contribution is an explicit expression of the optimal decentralized control which guarantees the convergence both to local and to global equilibrium points. Furthermore, we study the stability of the system also in the presence of a delay which we model using an hysteresis operator. As a result of the hysteresis, we prove existence of multiple equilibrium points and analyze convergence conditions. The stability of the system is ill…

MR3090050 Reviewed Belabbas, Mohamed Ali On global stability of planar formations. IEEE Trans. Automat. Control 58 (2013), no. 8, 2148–2153. (Reviewe…

2014

The focus of the paper is planar formation control, i.e. the design of control laws to stabilize agents at given distances from each other, under the constraint that the dynamics of each agent only depends on a subset of the other agents. The main contribution of the paper is the following: It is shown that a simple four-agent formation cannot be globally stabilized using twice differentiable control laws (this is not the case for three-agent formations), even up to sets of measure zero of initial conditions. This suggests that for four-agent formations one needs to look for control laws that are either not differentiable (or even not continuous) or of higher order in the dynamics. The appr…

Future reform of Chinese elite sport management system : perspective of sport events

2010

The primary intention of this study is to present and evaluate the elite sport management system in China and to predict the trend of future reformation in Chinese elite sport management system. In addition, this study attempts to enhance the understanding to Chinese sport management system. The literature review plays an important part in the study background of this research, and there are four kinds of theoretical method were used in the research and analysis of this study. The Delphi Method and Gordon Method are used for the group interview and the Creswell Model is a way to collect useful material from the method of literature review. In addition the scale used in sport event spectator…

Blockchain for power systems:Current trends and future applications

2020

Abstract Today, the blockchain is synonymous of technological innovation, being recognized among the 10 top strategy technologies in 2018 by the consulting company Gartner, it is more and more adopted in different sectors. However, the initial enthusiasm around this technology is going beyond the peak of inflated expectations, towards more stable applications in money transactions, cryptocurrencies and Digital Commodity Exchanges. Essentially, misguided efforts, the overuse of blockchain, and the Bitcoin's price drop have been the main reasons for this decay in expectations. Nevertheless, the exploitation of the blockchain technology in the power systems area appears largely underexplored, …

Cost-effectiveness analysis of sewer mining versus centralized wastewater treatment: Case study of the Arga river basin, Spain

2015

ABSTRACT:In the context of the EU Water Framework Directive, a Cost-Effectiveness Analysis (CEA) was performed to compare centralized and decentralized wastewater treatment strategies aimed to improve the ecological status of a Spanish river. The implementation of several hybrid membrane bioreactors within the urban framework for sewer mining (SM) was compared with the more common wastewater treatment plant enlargement option. The assessment ranked 6 alternatives based on 12 potential scenarios, aimed at narrowing the uncertainty of the CEA. The cost analysis illustrated that SM is the most expensive option regarding both investment and operation and maintenance costs. However, the effectiv…

Negotiation in Distributed Production Planning Environments

2006

Mass customization and global competition push enterprises to adopt proper business models able to capture all the opportunities arising from emerging competition rules. An increasing number of industrial enterprises distribute their production capacity world wide to achieve lower production costs, lower distribution costs (due to the closer proximity to customers), and deeper knowledge of customer needs. As a drawback, coordination of the different production plants and the balance among plants and enterprise goals represent a critical issue in the network management. In this context the paper looks at the production planning problem, adopting a traditional hierarchical time-based perspect…

Towards a Trustful Digital World : Exploring Self-Sovereign Identity Ecosystems

2021

In the current global situation-burdened by, among others, a vast number of people without formal identification, digital leap, the need for health passports and contact tracking applications-providing private and secure digital identity for individuals, organizations and other entities is crucial. The emerging self-sovereign identity (SSI) solutions rely on distributed ledger technologies and verifiable credentials and have the potential to enable trustful digital interactions. In this human-centric paradigm, trust among actors can be established in a decentralized manner while the identity holders are able to own and control their confidential data. In this paper, we build on observations…
