Positron production using a 9 MeV electron linac for the GBAR experiment
2020
For the GBAR (Gravitational Behaviour of Antihydrogen at Rest) experiment at CERN's Antiproton Decelerator (AD) facility we have constructed a source of slow positrons, which uses a low-energy electron linear accelerator (linac). The driver linac produces electrons of 9 MeV kinetic energy that create positrons from bremsstrahlung-induced pair production. Staying below 10 MeV ensures no persistent radioactive activation in the target zone and that the radiation level outside the biological shield is safe for public access. An annealed tungsten-mesh assembly placed directly behind the target acts as a positron moderator. The system produces $5\times10^7$ slow positrons per second, a performan…
Measurement of the Higgs boson coupling with tau leptons and search for an additional neutral MSSM Higgs boson with the ATLAS detector
2018
Discussing Mathematical Learning and Mathematical Praxeologies from a Subject Scientific Perspective
2018
International audience; This programmatic contribution discusses the link between concepts from Anthropological Theory of Didactics (ATD) and the “subject-scientific point of view” according to Holzkamp (1985, 1993). The main common concern of ATD and the subject-scientific approach is to conceptualize and analyse “objects” like “institutionalized mathematical knowledge” and “university” not as conditions that cause reactions but essentially as meanings in the sense of generalized societal reified action possibilities. The link of both approaches is illustrated by the issue of “real numbers” in the transition from school to university: Hypotheses are derived for further actual-empirical res…
Prezentaciâ učebnogo kompleksa "Vsë Prosto!": koncepciâ, struktura, metodičeskie osnovy serii
2016
The article presents a textbook series EEverything Is Easy!" for teaching Russian to Polish students at junior high school, showing its structure and methodological foundation. The fi rst textbook in the series was published in 2014, shortly before the introduction of a law which introduced a ban on placing exercises that required writing answers in the textbook. The law resulted in the conceptual change of the series.
Troska o sprawy Kościoła w korespondencji ostatniej dekady życia Grzegorza z Nazjanzu
2016
Analysis of approximately 165 letters of Gregory Nazianzen written by him in the last decade of his life revealed a large part of them devoted to his involvement in the current affairs of the ecclesial community. His departure from the position of the bishop of Constantinople, marked by a kind of failure, did not prompt him to react against the Church, but developed just an opposite attitude – increased mobilization of his strenght for the constant concern about the situation of the local Churches. This concern referred to the activities of the pastors of particular ecclesial communities, experiencing a variety of problems, deacons and presbyters, coming from his surroundings, as well as sy…
The variation of the law applicable to the family property regime in EU regulations n. 2016/1103 and 1104
2021
The essay examines the discipline of EU regulations n. 2016/1103 and 1104 concerning the identification of the law applicable to the family property regime. Specifically, the work reflects on problems arising after a change, during the relationship, of the substantial law applicable to the couple?s property regime.
Information sharing in the era of social media
2016
Social media has become ubiquitous in just a few years. Their success depends on users’ willingness to continue investing their time and attention in this media and share their knowledge with each other in the absence of formal contract. This thesis attempts to examine social media users’ information sharing activities with three essays. Specifically, this thesis investigates 1 Why do social networking sites (SNS) users have online information privacy? 2 What are the antecedents of blog users’ online information privacy concerns? and 3 Why virtual team members want to sharing knowledge among each other in social media platform? To answer these questions, we conducted three studies. Specific…
Search for photonic signatures of gauge-mediated supersymmetry in 8TeV pp collisions with the ATLAS detector
2015
A search is presented for photonic signatures motivated by generalized models of gauge-mediated supersymmetry breaking. This search makes use of 20.3 fb[superscript −1] of proton-proton collision data at √s = 8 TeV recorded by the ATLAS detector at the LHC, and explores models dominated by both strong and electroweak production of supersymmetric partner states. Four experimental signatures incorporating an isolated photon and significant missing transverse momentum are explored. These signatures include events with an additional photon, lepton, b-quark jet, or jet activity not associated with any specific underlying quark flavor. No significant excess of events is observed above the Stand…

Income and Career Concerns Among Emerging Adults From Finland, Sweden, and the United Kingdom During COVID-19
2023
In this study, we examine the prevalence of income and career concerns among emerging adults in three different welfare states during COVID-19: Finland ( n = 309), Sweden ( n = 324), and the United Kingdom ( n = 343). This study also delves into how factors such as one’s self-perceived financial situation, generalized mistrust, loneliness and socio-demographics are related to emerging adults’ income and career concerns. Results showed that individuals from the United Kingdom were more likely to experience increased income and career concerns than those in Finland and Sweden. Our results also suggest that income concerns were associated with one’s current financial situation, future financi…
