In the title compound, C(8)H(8)N(2)O(2), the nitramino group is planar and only slightly twisted with respect to the indoline rings. The bridgehead N--C bond is slightly shorter than in typical secondary aromatic nitramines. The N--N bond has some double-bond character. The molecules are connected by weak C--H...O hydrogen bonds, forming chains parallel to the z direction.

Photophysical characterization of upconversion nanoparticles (UCNPs) and nanohybrids (UCNHs) is more challenging than that of down-conversion nanomaterials. Moreover, it is still difficult to gain knowledge about the homogeneity of the sample and colocalization of emissive chromophores and nanoparticles in nanohybrids. Liquid-crystalline copolymers with covalently attached dichroic dyes were synthesized and characterized. Copolymers with high anthraquinone and trisazo-dye content were obtained by copolymerization of dye monomers with 4-cyanophenyl 4-(6-acryloyloxyhexyloxy)benzoate (1) and 6-acryloyloxyhexyl 4-(trans-4-propylcyclohexyl)benzoate (2). Particular attention is given to the influence of the dye content and the dye structure on the liquid-crystalline behavior of the copolymers.

This work presents preliminary results of an investigation aiming at characterization of nanocomposite insulating materials. Focus is made on size and technological process effects, i.e. dependence of electrical properties on filler size, on polymer-nanofiller interaction (e.g. intercalation or exfoliation) and, in particular, on chemical purification procedures.
