2015

Pētījuma mērķis – apzināt audzināšanas metodes 1,5–3 gadus vecu bērnu pozitīvas uzvedības veicināšanai un novērtēt to ieviešanas lietderīgumu pirmsskolas izglītības iestādē „X”. Teorētiskajā daļā apskatīta 1,5–3 gadus vecu bērnu attīstība, pozitīvas uzvedības jēdziens, tā veidošanās nosacījumi un veicināšanas metodes – Marte Meo, paškontroles treniņš, sadarbības un izolācijas. Praktiskajā daļā veikta gadījuma studija pirmsskolas izglītības iestādē „…

Artificial intelligence in the diagnosis of pediatric allergic diseases.

2020

Abstract: Artificial intelligence (AI) is a field of data science pertaining to advanced computing machines capable of learning from data and interacting with the human world. Early diagnosis and diagnostics, self-care, prevention and wellness, clinical decision support, care delivery, and chronic care management have been identified within the healthcare areas that could benefit from introducing AI. In pediatric allergy research, the recent developments in AI approach provided new perspectives for characterizing the heterogeneity of allergic diseases among patients. Moreover, the increasing use of electronic health records and personal healthcare records highlighted the relevance of AI in …

You have a Message from Illi! : The Mobile Diary in Researching Children’s Daily Experiences

2017

Thus far, daily diary studies have mostly focused on adults and adolescents, while only a few have researched young children. In this methodological article, we introduce and evaluate a mobile diary application, “You have a message from Illi”, designed to capture young, under-school-age children’s daily experiences at home and in day care, in the context of a 24 h economy where parents work nonstandard hours and child care is arranged accordingly. We also compare childrens’ mood ratings reported by both the children themselves and adults. Children recruited either from day care centers (N = 15) or day and night and care centers (N = 17) carried smartphones with them for 1 week and reported …

Omega-3 Long-Chain Polyunsaturated Fatty Acids Intake in Children with Attention Deficit and Hyperactivity Disorder

2019

Omega-3 long-chain polyunsaturated fatty acids (LC-PUFA) play a central role in neuronal growth and in the development of the human brain, and a deficiency of these substances has been reported in children with attention deficit hyperactive disorder (ADHD). In this regard, supplementation with omega-3 polyunsaturated fatty acids is used as adjuvant therapy in ADHD. Seafood, particularly fish, and some types of nuts are the main dietary sources of such fatty acids in the Spanish diet. In order to assess the effect of the intake of common foods containing high amounts of omega-3 polyunsaturated fatty acids, a food frequency questionnaire was administered to parents of children with ADHD (N = …

A Comparison of Physical Activity Levels in Childcare Contexts among Finnish and Dutch 3-Year-Olds

2016

The aim of the current study was to determine Finnish and Dutch three-year-old preschool children’s physical activity (PA) levels and how levels vary across gender, location, time of day and social contexts in both countries. A modified version of the Observational System for Recording Physical Activity in Children-Preschool (OSRAC-P) was used to measure children’s PA levels and contextual variables (e.g. group composition, prompts) of children attending childcare centres in Finland and the Netherlands. In total, 90 Finnish children (46 boys and 44 girls) and 97 Dutch children (46 boys and 51 girls) were observed. Three-level linear regression analyses with cross level interactions were use…

Valtti-ohjelma lisäsi erityistä tukea tarvitsevien lasten ja nuorten fyysistä aktiivisuutta ja liikunnan harrastamista

2017

Valtti-ohjelma on Suo…
