Late Cardiac Events after Childhood Cancer: Methodological Aspects of the Pan-European Study PanCareSurFup.

2016

Background and AimChildhood cancer survivors are at high risk of long-term adverse effects of cancer and its treatment, including cardiac events. The pan-European PanCareSurFup study determined the incidence and risk factors for cardiac events among childhood cancer survivors. The aim of this article is to describe the methodology of the cardiac cohort and nested case-control study within PanCareSurFup.MethodsEight data providers in Europe participating in PanCareSurFup identified and validated symptomatic cardiac events in their cohorts of childhood cancer survivors. Data on symptomatic heart failure, ischemia, pericarditis, valvular disease and arrhythmia were collected and graded accordi…

Phosphoproteinphosphatase activity in sea urchin embryos

1964

Some observations on the metabolism of S35-methionine during development of the sea urchin eggs

1958

Si e studiato il metabolismo della metionina-S35 nella frazione non-proteica (TCA-solubile) nel corso dello sviluppo diParacentrotus lividus.

Incorporation of S35-Methionine in the microsomes and soluble proteins during the early development of the sea urchin egg

1960

more susceptible to the killing activity of caspofungin. This study is the first comparing caspofungin killing activity against the closely related species C. parapsilosis, C. orthopsilosis and C. metapsilosis. Killing curves, regardless of the medium used, showed a decreasing order of susceptibility to caspofungin: C. metapsilosis . C. orthopsilosis . C. parapsilosis. Based on high echinocandin MICs for C. parapsilosis sensu stricto, in the case of isolates identified as C. parapsilosis sensu lato low MICs of echinocandins may be regarded as an indicator that an isolate is in fact C. orthopsilosis or C. metapsilosis; in the case of isolates with low echinocandin MICs, DNA-based identificat…

A review of natural and modified betulinic, ursolic and echinocystic acid derivatives as potential antitumor and anti-HIV agents.

2003

The aim of this review is to update current knowledge on the betulinic, ursolic and echinocystic acids and their natural and semisynthetic analogs, focussing on their cytotoxic and anti-HIV activities. Then, the last results of the authors' team on unusual semisynthetic derivatives of these triterpenoids will be presented in order to establish structure/activity relationships.

Cytotoxicity of some Cameroonian spices and selected medicinal plant extracts

2011

Abstract Ethnopharmacological relevance Several medicinal plants and spices are used traditionally to treat cancers in Cameroon. Aim Methanol extracts from thirty-four spices and plants, with related ethnobotanical use were investigated for their in vitro cytotoxicity on the human pancreatic cancer cell line MiaPaCa-2, leukemia CCRF-CEM cells and their multidrug resistant (MDR) subline CEM/ADR5000, and the normal human umbilical vein endothelial cells (HUVECs). In addition the anti-angiogenic properties of the most active extracts were investigated. Material and methods The MTS [3-(4,5-dimethylthiazol-2-yl)-5-(3-carboxymethoxyphenyl)-2-(4-sulfophenyl)-2H-tetrazolium] assay was used for cyto…

A model for the cortical reaction of fertilization in the sea-urchin egg.

1953
