Summary Some viruses are released from cells as pools of membrane-associated virions. By increasing the multiplicity of infection (MOI), this type of collective dispersal could favor viral cooperation, but also the emergence of cheater-like viruses such as defective interfering particles. To better understand this process, we examined the genetic diversity of membrane-associated coxsackievirus infectious units. We find that infected cells release membranous structures (including vesicles) that contain 8–21 infectious particles on average. Abstract Introduction We aimed to evaluate the efficacy of the use of the electromagnetic distal targeting system in treating humeral shaft fracture. Methods Patients were divided in: Group 1) patients that received a distal locking screw placement following the free-hand technique; Group 2) patients in which the distal locking screw was performed using the SURESHOT device. Results No differences were noted comparing Group 1 (freehand) [71,9 range 40–135 min] to Group 2 (SURESHOT)[70, range 25–125 min]. Conclusion The use of the EM distal targeting system doesn't reduce the overall operative time of the humeral shaft fracture fixation using IMN.

International audience; Pure and mixed controlled-pH batch cultures of Streptococcus salivarius subsp. thermophilus 404 and Lactobacillus delbrueckii subsp. bulgaricus 398 have been conducted. The characteristics of growth and acidification and the productivity of the cultures were compared. During the mixed cultures, the growth characteristics revealed a pronounced stimulation of S. thermophilus whereas L. bulgaricus metabolism was not significantly improved. The final total population was 1.4 to 4.9 higher than in pure cultures. The acidification characteristics were not enhanced by the mixed culture conditions. This article presents empirical evidence on the determinants of the financial behavior of small family businesses and their differences from nonfamily small businesses. Taking into account two consolidated financial approaches, (1) the trade-off theory and (2) the pecking order theory, several hypotheses on the financial behavior of both groups of firms have been tested.
