Orbital Structure of the Two Fixed Centres Problem
1999
The set of orbits of the Two Fixed Centres problem has been known for a long time (Charlier, 1902, 1907; Pars, 1965), since it is an integrable Hamiltonian system.
Population trapping due to cavity losses
2008
In population trapping the occupation of a decaying quantum level keeps a constant non-zero value. We show that an atom-cavity system interacting with an environment characterized by a non-flat spectrum, in the non-Markovian limit, exhibits such a behavior, effectively realizing the preservation of nonclassical states against dissipation. Our results allow to understand the role of cavity losses in hybrid solid state systems and pave the way to the proper description of leakage in the recently developed cavity quantum electrodynamic systems.
Future is where concepts, theories and applications meet (also in fuzzy logic)
2015
No one knows where the future lies, and the idea of serendipity in science is now raised to something of a tropism. This does not impede our will to predict, if not the exact events, at least the short–term trends in the disciplines we live and breathe, and to point at the (subjective) glaring chances for a bright future. This volume is a clear example of the need that any living scientific discipline has for constant regrouping and redirection, in a never–ending process of consolidating results and finding new paths. In this contribution we will try and focus on a number of areas of fuzzy logic and, by extension, in the whole word of uncertainty, where (in our opinion) a number of interest…

Recenti scavi e ricerche a Terravecchia di Cuti
2020
The aim of this paper is to illustrate the preliminary results of research (intrasite survey and excavation) carried out from 2013 to 2017 in the fortified settlement of Terravecchia di Cuti. The intrasite survey allowed to select the excavation area. Some walls, part of two distinct buildings, have been identified: the most interesting structure is a large room, perhaps a courtyard, around which there are at least three rooms. Remains of pithoi are in the rooms, and two on the courtyard floor. Remains of other walls have also been identified, different in orientation and composition compared to the structures described; these walls are older than the buildings 1 and 2. Finally, it seems th…
2017
This article investigates J.G. Schadow's relevance as a portraitist and as a sculptor of funerary monuments. In the appendix are published Schadow's letters to Canova, documents that help to contextualize Canova's relations to the Berlin Academy of Fine Arts.
2022
Abstract: This paper presents three brief reading notes on as many passages of the Filostrato (IV 51:1-8; IV 56, 4-8) and the Ninfale fiesolano (229, 1-5) by Giovanni Boccaccio, in the search for probable classical and medieval latin sources and models that have so far escaped the attention of scholars.
2016
The so-called De Cavichiolo, a brief dialogic text comprising 76 elegiac couplets, centred on the exchange between a dissatisfied wife and a sodomite husband, has posed many delicate and controversial problems to those scholars who have studied this work. The principal issues, strictly correlated and interdependent, concern the chronology of the pièce (hypothesis range between the XII-XIII and XV centuries) and the relationship connecting this text to Boccaccio’s tale of Pietro di Vinciolo (Decam. V 10). In this paper the author (after his critical edition of the De Cavichiolo) newly looks on the text, a play having his place in the first period of latin humanistic comedy (perchance around …
Giovanni Marrasio fra Virgilio, Orazio e Properzio
2021
This paper takes remark by the publication of «Humanae ac divinae litterae». Scritti di cultu…
