Control of the One Dimensional Map Dynamics of the Cardiac Action Potential Duration

International audience; The aim of this work is to investigate the control of the chaos in the one dimensional map which modelizes the duration of the current cardiac action potential (APD) as a function of the previous one. Using OGY control method, we obtain very satisfactory numerical results to stabilize the irregular heart rhythm into the normal rhythm.

Fractal Weyl law for open quantum chaotic maps

2014

We study the semiclassical quantization of Poincar\'e maps arising in scattering problems with fractal hyperbolic trapped sets. The main application is the proof of a fractal Weyl upper bound for the number of resonances/scattering poles in small domains near the real axis. This result encompasses the case of several convex (hard) obstacles satisfying a no-eclipse condition.

International audience; Quantitativement, l’essentiel du De aduerbio est consacré à deux classifications: la classification morphologique selon la finale, et la classification sémantique. Cela étant, ce qui précède ces deux ensembles définit un cadre d’analyse qui leur donne leur sens. La définition initiale de l’adverbe en dégage deux caractères : l’un formel, l’invariabilité, l’autre sémantico-fonctionnel, à savoir que sa signification se combine avec celle du verbe. L’ensemble du livre sur l’adverbe illustre ensuite de diverses façons les problèmes que pose la relation entre ces niveaux formel, sémantique et fonctionnel.

Visualizing linguistic variation in a network of Latin documents and scribes

This article explores whether and how network visualization can benefit philological and historical-linguistic study. This is illustrated with a corpus-based investigation of scribes' language use in a lemmatized and morphologically annotated corpus of documentary Latin (Late Latin Charter Treebank, LLCT2). We extract four continuous linguistic variables from LLCT2 and utilize a gradient colour palette in Gephi to visualize the variable values as node attributes in a trimodal network which consists of the documents, writers, and writing locations underlying the same corpus. An alternative space-time meshless method for solving transient heat transfer problems with high discontinuous moving sources

International audience; The aim of this work is the development of a space-time diffuse approximation meshless method (DAM) to solve heat equations containing discontinuous sources. This work is devoted to transient heat transfer problems with static and moving heat sources applied on a metallic plate and whose power presents temporal discontinuities. The space-time DAM using classical weight function is convenient for continuous transient heat transfer. Nevertheless, for problems including discontinuities, some spurious oscillations for the temperature field occur. A new weight function, respecting the principle of causality, is used to eradicate the physically unexpected oscillations.

Emergence of rogue waves from optical turbulence

International audience; We provide some general physical insights into the emergence of rogue wave events from optical turbulence by analyzing the long term evolution of the field. Depending on the amount of incoherence in the system (i.e., Hamiltonian), we identify three turbulent regimes that lead to the emergence of specific rogue wave events: (i) persistent and coherent rogue quasi-solitons, (ii) intermittent-like rogue quasi-solitons that appear and disappear erratically, and (iii) sporadic rogue waves events that emerge from turbulent fluctuations as bursts of light or intense flashes.
