Coupled experiment/simulation approach for the design of radiation-hardened rare-earth doped optical fibers and amplifiers

We developed an approach to design radiation-hardened rare earth -doped fibers and amplifiers. This methodology combines testing experiments on these devices with particle swarm optimization (PSO) calculations. The composition of Er/Yb-doped phosphosilicate fibers was improved by introducing Cerium inside their cores. Such composition strongly reduces the amplifier radiation sensitivity, limiting its degradation: we observed a gain decreasing from 19 dB to 18 dB after 50 krad whereas previous studies reported higher degradations up to 0°dB at such doses. Optical bullets and "rockets" in nonlinear dissipative systems and their transformations and interactions

We demonstrate the existence of stable optical light bullets in nonlinear dissipative media for both cases of normal and anomalous chromatic dispersion. The prediction is based on direct numerical simulations of the (3+1)-dimensional complex cubic-quintic GinzburgLandau equation. We do not impose conditions of spherical or cylindrical symmetry. Regions of existence of stable bullets are determined in the parameter space. Beyond the domain of parameters where stable bullets are found, unstable bullets can be transformed into >rockets> i.e. bullets elongated in the temporal domain. This thesis is devoted to the study of relaxational and collisional line-broadening processes in the first vibrational polyads of tetrahedral molecules. In a first part, the particular internal dynamics of such molecules is discussed. The second chapter reviews the literature on phenomena induced by intermolecular interactions involving this type of molecules. More theoretical aspects are developed in the second part. Deux tombes féminines, atypiques et privilégiées de la nécropole du Bas-Empire d'Arcis-sur-Aube (Champagne-Ardenne)

International audience; En 2002, une nécropole a été partiellement fouillée au sud de la commune d’Arcis-sur-Aube (Aube, Champagne-Ardenne). Cette opération a permis d’exhumer vingt-deux tombes datées entre la fin du IIIe et le milieu du IVe siècle. Malgré des pratiques de dépôt partagées par la plupart des défunts, deux tombes se distinguent. Ces deux fosses, aménagées avec un double coffrage, accueillent deux défuntes qui possèdent des dépôts très similaires. La qualité des dépôts, leur disposition dans la fosse, ainsi que la proximité des creusements, signalent une volonté du groupe de mettre en exergue ces deux femmes.
