The kinetic of degradation of 1-butyl-3-methylimidazole-2-ylidene (selected as model N-heterocyclic carbene - NHC), generated in organic solvents by cathodic reduction of the parent 1-butyl-3- methylimidazolium salts BMIm-X, was studied by a simple voltammetric analysis. The effect of NHC degradation rate on the efficiency of an organocatalyzed reaction (the synthesis of g-butyrolactone from cinnamaldehyde and trifluoromethylacetophenone) was investigated. The nature of the solvent and of the anion X have a remarkable effect on the stability of the NHC, the bis(trifluoromethylsulfonyl) imide anion being the best for a long lasting carbene (while acetonitrile seems to be the worst solvent). …

Nel presente lavoro sono stati impiegati nanocorni di carbonio (CNHs) come piattaforma catalitica per il design di nuovi materiali ibridi a base di sali di imidazolio per la conversione della CO2 in carbonati ciclici. A tale scopo sono stati preparati una serie di catalizzatori eterogenei mediante una procedura sintetica one-pot basata sulla polimerizzazione radicalica di vari sali di bis vinilimidazolio in presenza di nanocorni di carbonio. The reaction of ( 1 )Ni(η 2 -cod), 2 , incorporating a chelating bis( N -heterocyclic carbene) 1 , with P 4 in pentane yielded the dinuclear complex [( 2 )Ni] 2 (μ 2 ,η 2 :η 2 -P 4 ), 3 , formally featuring a cyclobutadiene-like, neutral, rectangular, π-bridging P 4 -ring. Comparison of oxidoreductive enzyme activities in three coal tar creosote-contaminated soils

This study used laboratory experiments to compare the effects of coal tar creosote on the activity of oxidoreductive enzymes in sandy loam, loamy sand and sandy clay loam soils. Different amounts of coal tar creosote were added to soil samples as follows: 0 (control), 2, 10 or 50 g kg–1 dry matter. The activity of soil dehydrogenases (DHAs), o-diphenol oxidase (o-DPO), catalase (CAT), nitrate reductase (NR) and peroxidases (POX) was determined. Contamination of soil with coal tar creosote affected oxidoreductase activity. Diels–Alder reaction of β-fluoro-β-nitrostyrenes with cyclic dienes

The Diels–Alder reaction of β-fluoro-β-nitrostyrenes with cyclic 1,3-dienes was investigated. A series of novel monofluorinated norbornenes was prepared in up to 97% yield. The reaction with 1,3-cyclohexadiene permits the preparation of monofluorinated bicyclo[2.2.2]oct-2-enes. The kinetic data of the reactions with 1,3-cyclopentadiene and 1,3-cyclohexadiene were used to calculate activation parameters. Furthermore, the synthetic utility of the cycloadducts obtained was demonstrated.

Abstract Let U be the group of units of the group algebra FG of a group G over a field F . Suppose that either F is infinite or G has an element of infinite order. We characterize groups G so that U satisfies a group identity. Under the assumption that G modulo the torsion elements is nilpotent this gives a complete classification of such groups. For torsion groups this problem has already been settled in recent years.

Abstract Let p ≠ 3 , 5 be a prime. We prove that Sylow p-subgroups of a finite group G are abelian if and only if the class sizes of the p-elements of G are all coprime to p. This gives a solution to a problem posed by R. Brauer in 1956 (for p ≠ 3 , 5 ).

Artykuł nie podsumowuje długiego i bardzo bogatego w wiele ekumenicznych inicjatyw pontyfikatu Jana Pawła II. Prezentując jego ekumeniczną wizję Kościoła, ogranicza się do czterech punktów. Wylicza główne dokumenty ekumeniczne napisane przez Papieża (1), bardziej szczegółowo omawia treść listu apostolskiego Orientale lumen (2) i encykliki Ut unum sint (3). W ostatnim punkcie wyodrębnia elementy oryginalne, które w prezentowanej encyklice dotyczą Papieża i papiestwa (4). W formie wniosku stwierdzona, że z dokumentów ekumenicznych pozostawionych przez Jana Pawła II tchnie ogromny potencjał jego intelektualnej i kościelnej otwartości, odwagi oraz ekumenicznej nadziei.
