Climate and extreme rainfall events in the Mono river basin (West Africa): investigating future changes with Regional Climate Models.

This study characterizes the future changes in extreme rainfall and air temperature in the Mono river basin where the main economic activity is weather dependent and local populations are highly vulnerable to natural hazards, including flood inundations. Daily precipitation and temperature from observational datasets and Regional Climate Models (RCMs) output from REMO, RegCM, HadRM3, and RCA were used to analyze climatic variations in space and time, and fit a GEV model to investigate the extreme rainfalls and their return periods. The cumulative occurrence of heavy precipitation and flood events during recent years in various Central European locations emphasises the urgent need to improve extreme rainfall observations and forecasts. Approaching electrical tomography

A general approach to electrical tomography is here described, based on the distribution of the experimental data to the set of voxels in which the subsoil has been divided. This approach utilizes the sensitivity coefficients as factors of the convolution procedure to execute the back projection of the data, to obtain the 3D pictures of the subsoil. A subsequent probabilistic filtering technique is described to improve the pictures in view of sharp boundary models. Some models are finally presented, mostly regarding cubic buried anomalies as well as pipe-shaped and L-shaped anomalies.

In order to evaluate for the vineyard, the additional risk of freezing, which could be generated by a railway embankment of the High Speed Line (TGV «Paris-Strasbourg») a canvas cover of the future embankment (length 480 m, height 3 m maxi) was drawn up in the bottom of a wineyard slope.
