Semantic Annotation and Retrieval of Services in the Cloud
2013
Recently, the economy has taken a downturn, which has forced many companies to reduce their costs in IT. This fact has, conversely, benefited the adoption of innovative computing models such as cloud computing, which allow businesses to reduce their fixed IT costs through outsourcing. As the number of cloud services available on the Internet grows, it is more and more difficult for companies to find those that can meet their needs. Under these circumstances, enabling a semantically-enriched search engine for cloud solutions can be a major breakthrough. In this paper, we present a fully-fledged platform based on semantics that (1) assist in generating a semantic description of cloud services…
Resource Self-management under an SLA within a Cloud Networking Environment
2015
International audience; Today, cloud networking is one of the recent research areas in the cloud computing research communities. The main drawback of cloud networking consists in the lack of Quality of Service (QoS) guarantee and management in conformance with a corresponding Service Level Agreement (SLA). In this paper, we propose a framework for self-establishing an end-to-end SLA between a Cloud Service User (CSU) and several Cloud Service Providers (CSPs) in a cloud networking environment (inter-cloud Broker and Federation architecture). Then, we propose the self-management of cloud resources under the established SLA using specific autonomic cloud managers. We simulate our proposed fra…
Toward a virtual reconstruction of an antique three-dimensional marble puzzle
2017
International audience; Abstract | Introduction | Related Work | Acquisition Setup, Proposed Prototype: Calibration and Visibility | Preprocessing of Scanned Three-Dimensional Fragment Data | Processing of Scanned Three-Dimensional Surface Data: Matching | Conclusion and Future Works | Appendices | Acknowledgments | ReferencesAbstract. The reconstruction of broken objects is an important field of research for many applications, such as art restoration, surgery, forensics, and solving puzzles. In archaeology, the reconstruction of broken artifacts is a very time-consuming task due to the handling of fractured objects, which are generally fragile. However, it can now be supported by three-dim…
Ontology and protocol secure for SCADA: Int. J. of Metadata, Semantics and Ontologies, 2014 Vol.9, No.2, pp.114 - 127
2014
International audience; In this work, we present a semantic cyber security system and we study its semantic intelligent systems vulnerabilities, focusing on the semantic attacks. For resolving semantic problems we propose a security global solution for the new generation of SCADA systems. The proposed solution aims at protecting critical semantic SCADA processes from the effects of major failures and semantic vulnerabilities in the modern IT-SCADA network. We used a security block in the global network access point, security protocols deployed in different network (OSI) levels and security ontologies deployed in security devices. We used our mixed coordinates (ECC) cryptography solution, th…
NoC based virtualized FPGA as cloud Services
2016
International audience; Web-based applications are increasingly demanding many computationally intensive services. On the other hand, FPGA-based hardware accelerators(HwAcc) provide good performance in accelerating computationally intensive applications. In addition, some FPGAs support a dynamic partial reconfig-uration (DPR) techniques to virtualize and share the FPGA underlying hardware resources in time multiplexing during run-time to save resource and power consumption. Integrating FPGA in a cloud environment is an indispensable way to improve efficiency and provide acceleration services to demanding users. More importantly, in recent years it was proved that FPGA resources deployed in …
Region-based segmentation on depth images from a 3D reference surface for tree species recognition.
2013
International audience; The aim of the work presented in this paper is to develop a method for the automatic identification of tree species using Terrestrial Light Detection and Ranging (T-LiDAR) data. The approach that we propose analyses depth images built from 3D point clouds corresponding to a 30 cm segment of the tree trunk in order to extract characteristic shape features used for classifying the different tree species using the Random Forest classifier. We will present the method used to transform the 3D point cloud to a depth image and the region based segmentation method used to segment the depth images before shape features are computed on the segmented images. Our approach has be…
Shaken Snow Globes: Kinematic Tracers of the Multiphase Condensation Cascade in Massive Galaxies, Groups, and Clusters
2018
We propose a novel method to constrain turbulence and bulk motions in massive galaxies, groups and clusters, exploring both simulations and observations. As emerged in the recent picture of the top-down multiphase condensation, the hot gaseous halos are tightly linked to all other phases in terms of cospatiality and thermodynamics. While hot halos (10^7 K) are perturbed by subsonic turbulence, warm (10^4 K) ionized and neutral filaments condense out of the turbulent eddies. The peaks condense into cold molecular clouds (< 100 K) raining in the core via chaotic cold accretion (CCA). We show all phases are tightly linked via the ensemble (wide-aperture) velocity dispersion along the line o…
The 30 Year Search for the Compact Object in SN 1987A
2018
Despite more than 30 years of searches, the compact object in Supernova (SN) 1987A has not yet been detected. We present new limits on the compact object in SN 1987A using millimeter, near-infrared, optical, ultraviolet, and X-ray observations from ALMA, VLT, HST, and Chandra. The limits are approximately 0.1 mJy ($0.1\times 10^{-26}$ erg s$^{-1}$ cm$^{-2}$ Hz$^{-1}$) at 213 GHz, 1 Lsun ($6\times 10^{-29}$ erg s$^{-1}$ cm$^{-2}$ Hz$^{-1}$) in optical if our line-of-sight is free of ejecta dust, and $10^{36}$ erg s$^{-1}$ ($2\times 10^{-30}$ erg s$^{-1}$ cm$^{-2}$ Hz$^{-1}$) in 2-10 keV X-rays. Our X-ray limits are an order of magnitude less constraining than previous limits because we use a…
3D part inspection path planning of a laser scanner with control on the uncertainty
2011
International audience; This article concerns the measurement process of mechanical parts using laser scanners. From the point of view of industrial applications, the objective is to guarantee the measurement accuracy during the scanning with regard to the geometrical product specifications. The proposed method can be summarized as follow: the first step consists of analyzing the interval of tolerance for the different specifications and to attribute to every geometrical entity a maximal uncertainty of measurement. This uncertainty depends on the angle of incidence between the laser plane and the scanned surface. In the second step, an approach based on the concept of visibility is used fro…
