FISCAL POLICIES: LAW VERSUS ABUSE
2015
Creating a more efficient tax-collection system is a popular topic in the context of the public debate surrounding the revision of the Romanian Fiscal Code and the Romanian Fiscal Procedure Code. One cannot reduce tax rates without improving the tax-collection system. This objective can be achieved through the modernization of the tax administration. Proposed solutions involve a clear correlation between the Fiscal Procedure Code and Fiscal Code together with a harmonisation of the national law to the European Union law. On condition that the NAFA's workforce will possess the required skills and the necessary procedures in place, the risk that the taxpayers acting in good faith will "vanish…
Estudio de la variabilidad genética de repoblaciones de Quercus ilex L. subsp. ballota (Desf.) Samp. in Bol. en Andalucìa
2005
An adequate management of the reproductive material for reforestation activities is fundamental in the conservation of forest genetic resources. In the present work the levels of genetic diversity and differentiation between artificial stands of Quercus ilex and the adjacent natural stands are assessed with nuclear microsatellites. Also, it was possible to analyse the natural population used as seed source for one of the reforestations studied. The levels of genetic differentiation between natural and artificial stands and the decrease of genetic diversity from the seed origin population to the reforestation are discussed in relation to the transference of seed among provenance regions and …
Protection of Trees against Lightning Strikes as a Measure to Prevent Fires and Loss of Human Life
2021
Lighting strikes have been the catalyst of massive uncontrolled fires in areas of combustible vegetation. In some regions, lightning strikes may be a relatively unusual occurrence (e.g., California), but instead they seem to have become a major contributor to the propagation of wildfires, as a byproduct of climate change. Given such unusual weather, wildfires originating from lightning are an increasing threat. In this paper, the authors discuss the withstand capability of trees against lightning and introduce a proactive approach to prevent wildfires by the deployment of tree lighting protection systems (TLPS) to protect forested areas, where deemed necessary by the tree risk assessment.
Zbiór muzykaliów z kaplicy szpitalnej w Bystrzycy Kłodzkiej
2017
Dostarcza jednak cennych informacji o repertuarze muzycznym kaplicy szpitalnej. W zbiorze muzykaliów zwraca uwagę obecność kompozytorów kościelnych przełomu XIX i XX wieku (w tym twórców śląskich), niejednokrotnie …
Social Robots and Human Touch in Care : The Perceived Usefulness of Robot Assistance Among Healthcare Professionals
2019
Touching in care work is inevitable, particularly in cases where clients depend on nurses for many activities of daily living, such as bathing, dressing, lifting and assisting. When new technologies are involved in nurse–client relationships, the significance of human touch needs special attention. Stressing the importance of practitioners’ opinions on the usage of robots in care environments, we analyze care workers’ attitudes toward robot assistance in the care of older people and reflect on their ideas of the embodied relationship that caregivers and care receivers have with technology. To examine nurses’ attitudes toward care robots, we use survey data on professional care workers (n = …
The first inventory of birds of prey in sicilian museum collections (Italy)
2020
Natural History Museums are places of scientific dissemination and informal education, and have a fundamental role in scientific research and in preserving the historical heritage of a territory and its biodiversity. The island of Sicily, thanks to its geographic position as an inter-continental bridge in the Mediterranean, presents a notable ornithological diversity, with both sedentary species and species that migrate between Africa and Europe. For this reason, and thanks to a strong hunting tradition, Sicilian collections also depict the avifaunal assemblage historically present in the region, particularly for birds of prey, the group we focus on because of its particular ecological char…
Debtors' Ethical Perceptions of the Debt Collection Process
2018
This study researches debtors’ perception of debt collection agencies. The research data shows that a debtor perceives the debt collection as expensive, greedy and uncompromising as well as even sometimes extortionate and threatening. Yet positive perceptions appeared such as flexible, well mannered and polite. The debtor’s attitude towards debt collection agencies defines a significant part of the working environment of a debt collection agent – this study provides valuable information to inform the conduct of debt collection agents. peerReviewed
Efficient design and modeling strategies for follow-up studies with time-varying covariates
2015
Epidemiological studies can often be designed in several ways, some of which may be more optimal than others. Possible designs may differ in the required resources or the ability to provide reliable answers to the questions under study. In addition, once the data are collected, the selected modeling approach may affect how efficiently the data are utilized. The purpose of this dissertation is to investigate efficient designs and analysis meth ods in follow-up studies with longitudinal measurements. A key question is how to select optimally a subcohort for a new longitudinal covariate measurement if we cannot afford to measure the entire cohort. Another key question we consider is how to determine …
FROM SURVEY TO MODEL, AND RETURN. THE CASE OF THE PARMA BAPTISTERY
2019
Abstract. Although this is not always the common practice, the survey should be an essential preliminary stage to any operation of restoration, enhancement and promotion of cultural heritage. Today, various surveying techniques make it possible to collect large amounts of data quickly and to provide a complete three-dimensional representation of extremely complex artefacts. In fact, 3D models allow a much richer description than traditional 2D representations. However, these survey techniques (laser scanner and photogrammetry above all) necessarily imply that the data that must be elaborated during the processing phase increase dramatically. It is therefore essential to identify methods and…
