Motivos de abandono temprano de pacientes en tratamiento ambulatorio de adicción a sustancias

2016

The difficulties involved in continuing with the drug treatment offered by specialised public services lead to a considerable rate of premature abandon. Objective: the aim of this work is to learn the patients' reasons for abandoning their addiction treatment prematurely, and to establish relations with sociodemographic, administrative and clinical factors. Method: a transversal, observational and descriptive study, in a pubic therapeutic centre, via a phone interview of a sample of 92 patients selected with an intentional sampling method. The patients' clinical records were consulted in order to compile data on independent variables. Contingency tables were used for qualitative variables a…

Potential Anti-Metastatic Role of the Novel miR-CT3 in Tumor Angiogenesis and Osteosarcoma Invasion

2022

Osteosarcoma (OS) is the most common primary bone tumor mainly occurring in young adults and derived from primitive bone-forming mesenchyme. OS develops in an intricate tumor microenvironment (TME) where cellular function regulated by microRNAs (miRNAs) may affect communication between OS cells and the surrounding TME. Therefore, miRNAs are considered potential therapeutic targets in cancer and one of the goals of research is to accurately define a specific signature of a miRNAs, which could reflect the phenotype of a particular tumor, such as OS. Through NGS approach, we previously found a specific molecular profile of miRNAs in OS and discovered 8 novel miRNAs. Among these, we deepen our …

INDICADORES PARA O GERENCIAMENTO DE FACULDADES: UM ESTUDO DE DOIS CASOS NA ESPANHA

2015

The consequences of regulation of desat1 expression for pheromone emission and detection in Drosophila melanogaster.

2010

AbstractSensory communication depends on the precise matching between the emission and the perception of sex- and species-specific signals; understanding both the coevolutionary process and the genes involved in both production and detection is a major challenge. desat1 determines both aspects of communication—a mutation in desat1 simultaneously alters both sex pheromone emission and perception in Drosophila melanogaster flies. We investigated whether the alteration of pheromonal perception is a consequence of the altered production of pheromones or if the two phenotypes are independently controlled by the same locus. Using several genetic tools, we were able to separately manipulate the tw…

Uterine sarcomas: A critical review of the literature

2023

This review aims to provide a comprehensive description of surgical approaches for the management of uterine sarcomas. Uterine sarcomas are rare uterine neoplasms. Frequently, diagnosis is made after hysterectomy or myomectomy scheduled for presumed benign leiomyomas. The gold standard for surgical treatment of uterine sarcomas is hysterectomy with bilateral salpingo-oophorectomy. It is possible to adopt a fertility-sparing approach for those patients who wish to maintain their fertility. The role of pelvic lymphadenectomy is controversial; in fact, removal of lymph nodes is only recommended in the case of radiological suspicion of nodal involvement. Use of a morcellator is associated with …

Oxidative stress induces the expression of the major histocompatibility complex in murine tumor cells.

2001

The effect of t-butyl hydroperoxide (t-BOOH) on the induction of the Major Histocompatibility Complex (MHC) class I genes has been studied in two cell clones (B9 and G2) of the methylcholanthrene-induced murine fibrosarcoma GR9. These two clones were selected based on their different biological and biochemical behavior specially related to their tumor induction capability when injected into a BALB/c mouse. t-BOOH (0.125 mM) induced the expression of H-2 molecules in both cell clones. In B9 cell clone, in which MHC basal expression is very low or absent, t-BOOH significantly induced H-2Kd, H-2Dd and H-2Ld molecules. In G2 cell clone the expression of MHC class I genes was also enhanced by th…
