MicroRNA-29b-1 impairs in vitro cell proliferation, self‑renewal and chemoresistance of human osteosarcoma 3AB-OS cancer stem cells
2014
Osteosarcoma (OS) is the most common type of bone cancer, with a peak incidence in the early childhood. Emerging evidence suggests that treatments targeting cancer stem cells (CSCs) within a tumor can halt cancer and improve patient survival. MicroRNAs (miRNAs) have been implicated in the maintenance of the CSC phenotype, thus, identification of CSC-related miRNAs would provide information for a better understanding of CSCs. Downregulation of miRNA-29 family members (miR-29a/b/c; miR‑29s) was observed in human OS, however, little is known about the functions of miR-29s in human OS CSCs. Previously, during the characterization of 3AB-OS cells, a CSC line selected from human OS MG63 cells, we…
Genetic and Molecular Characterization of The Human Osteosarcoma 3AB-OS Cancer Stem Cell Line: A Possible Model For Studying Osteosarcoma Origin and …
2013
Finding new treatments targeting cancer stem cells (CSCs) within a tumor seems to be critical to halt cancer and improve patient survival. Osteosarcoma is an aggressive tumor affecting adolescents, for which there is no second-line chemotherapy. Uncovering new molecular mechanisms underlying the development of osteosarcoma and origin of CSCs is crucial to identify new possible therapeutic strategies. Here, we aimed to characterize genetically and molecularly the human osteosarcoma 3AB-OS CSC line, previously selected from MG63 cells and which proved to have both in vitro and in vivo features of CSCs. Classic cytogenetic studies demonstrated that 3AB-OS cells have hypertriploid karyotype wit…
Prognostic Impact of let-7e MicroRNA and Its Target Genes in Localized High-Risk Intestinal GIST: A Spanish Group for Research on Sarcoma (GEIS) Study
2020
MicroRNAs (miRNAs) are small non-coding RNAs that negatively regulate gene expression at the post-transcriptional level, and they have been described as being associated with tumor prognosis. Here, miRNA profiling was planned to explore new molecular prognostic biomarkers in localized intestinal high-risk GIST. Paraffin tumor blocks of 14 and 86 patients were used in the discovery and expansion sets, respectively. GeneChip miRNA v3.0 was employed to identify the miRNAs differentially expressed between relapsed and non-relapsed patient samples, which were validated in the expansion set, by qRT-PCR. RT2 Profiler PCR Array was used for the screening of let-7e targets. Expression levels were co…

SUL METABOLISMO DEGLI ORGANI DI RATTO PORTATORE DI SARCOMA DA BENZOPIRENE
1955
Free aminoacids were estimated in benzopyrene sarcoma of rats and in some organs of the tumour-bearing rats (brain, heart, muscle, lung, liver, spleen, kidney). In the tumour the content changes according to the growth stage; in the advanced tumour a strong increase of serine-glycine, glutammic acid and treonine is observed. In the organs the free amino acid contents are diminished in the first stages of the tumour growth, while in the advanced stages there is a tendency to an increase with different values according to the organs. The oxidation process in the organ homogenate (with or without substrate addition) varies according to the stage of the tumour growth, more evidently in the org…
Sesquiterpene lactones from iranian Artemisia species
1993
Abstract The aerial parts of Artemisia turcomanica and A. deserti yielded two new germacranolides, a new guaianolide, and several known mono- and sesquiterpenes.
Effect of konjac glucomannan addition on aroma release in gels containing potato starch.
2014
International audience; The present study aimed to measure the retention of aroma compounds (ethyl acetate, ethyl hexanoate and carvacrol) in dispersions based on konjac glucomannan and/or potato starch, and to highlight the influence of konjac glucomannan on the mechanisms involved in aroma retention. Publications on the effect of konjac glucomannan on aroma release are scarce. Konjac glocomannan is a polysaccharide used as a food additive for its viscous and emulsifying properties. Retention of aroma compounds in dispersions was calculated from partition coefficients which were measured using the phase ratio variation method. This method, consisting of analyses of the headspace at equilib…
