Molecular Clustering of Phenylurea Herbicides: Comparison with Sulphonylureas, Pesticides and Persistent Organic Pollutants

2014

Chromatographic retention times of phenylurea herbicides are modelled by structure–property relationships. Properties are hydration free energy and dipole. Bioplastic evolution is an evolutionary perspective conjugating the effect of acquired characters and relations that emerge among evolutionary indeterminacy, morphological determination and natural selection principles. Classification algorithms are proposed based on information entropy and production. Phenylureas are classified by Cl2, O2 and N2 presence; their different behaviour depends on the number of Cl atoms. When applying procedures to moderate-sized sets, excessive results appear compatible with data and suffer a combinatorial e…

A Bis‐Acridinium Macrocycle as Multi‐Responsive Receptor and Selective Phase‐Transfer Agent of Perylene

2020

A bis‐acridinium cyclophane incorporating switchable acridinium moieties linked by a 3,5‐dipyridylanisole spacer was studied as a multi‐responsive host for polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbon guests. Complexation of perylene was proven to be the most effective and was characterized in particular by a charge transfer band as signal output. Effective catch and release of the guest was triggered by both chemical (proton/hydroxide) and redox stimuli. Moreover, the dicationic host was also easily switched between organic and perfluorocarbon phases for application related to the enrichment of perylene from a mixture of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons. peerReviewed

Biotin-Containing Reduced Graphene Oxide-Based Nanosystem as a Multieffect Anticancer Agent: Combining Hyperthermia with Targeted Chemotherapy

2015

Among the relevant properties of graphene derivatives, their ability of acting as an energy-converting device so as to produce heat (i.e., thermoablation and hyperthermia) was more recently taken into account for the treatment of solid tumors. In this pioneering study, for the first time, the in vitro RGO-induced hyperthermia was assessed and combined with the stimuli-sensitive anticancer effect of a biotinylated inulin-doxorubicin conjugate (CJ-PEGBT), hence, getting to a nanosystem endowed with synergic anticancer effects and high specificity. CJ-PEGBT was synthesized by linking pentynoic acid and citraconic acid to inulin. The citraconylamide pendants, used as pH reversible spacer, were …

Tetrazine- and trans -cyclooctene-functionalised polypept(o)ides for fast bioorthogonal tetrazine ligation

2020

The inverse electron demand Diets-Alder (IEDDA) reaction-initiated ligation between 1,2,4,5-tetra-zines (Tz) and trans-cyclooctenes (TCO) is one of the fastest bioorthogonal reactions known today and is therefore increasingly used for in vivo click chemistry. Described herein is the synthesis of Tz- and TCO-functionalised polypeptides, polypeptoids and polypeptide-block-polypeptoids (polypept(o) ides) by ring-opening polymerisation of the corresponding N-carboxyanhydrides using Tz- or TCO-functional amine initiators. Despite the reactivity of tetrazines, polymers with low dispersity and high end group integrity can be obtained as observed by gel permeation chromatography (GPC), nuclear magn…

Polypept(o)ides: Hybrid Systems Based on Polypeptides and Polypeptoids.

2015

Polypept(o)ides combine the multifunctionality and intrinsic stimuli-responsiveness of synthetic polypeptides with the "stealth"-like properties of the polypeptoid polysarcosine (poly(N-methyl glycine)). This class of block copolymers can be synthesized by sequential ring opening polymerization of α-amino acid N-carboxy-anhydrides (NCAs) and correspondingly of the N-substituted glycine N-carboxyanhydride (NNCA). The resulting block copolymers are characterized by Poisson-like molecular weight distributions, full end group integrity, and dispersities below 1.2. While polysarcosine may be able to tackle the currently arising issues regarding the gold standard PEG, including storage diseases i…

Polyaspartamide based hydrogel with cell recruitment properties for the local administration of hydrophobic anticancer drugs

2019

Abstract By exploiting the chemical versatility and the high water dispersibility of α,β-poly(N-2-hydroxyethyl)D,L-aspartamide, in this work, two different polymer derivatives were synthesized for the first time. Obtained macromolecules were characterized and used to produce hydrogels exploitable for the local release of hydrophobic anticancer drugs. The first derivative, bearing pendant β-cyclodextrins, was employed to solubilize tamoxifen, chosen as a model drug, and to produce a water soluble supramolecular complex, as evidenced through tamoxifen phase solubility studies. The second derivative, bearing pendant Cyclo(Arginine-Glyicine-Asparagine-D-Phenilyalanine-Cysteine) peptide moieties…

Covalently Binding of Bovine Serum Albumin to Unsaturated Poly(Globalide-Co-ε-Caprolactone) Nanoparticles by Thiol-Ene Reactions.

2019

When nanoparticles (NPs) are introduced to a biological fluid, different proteins (and other biomolecules) rapidly get adsorbed onto their surface, forming a protein corona capable of giving to the NPs a new "identity" and determine their biological fate. Protein-nanoparticle conjugation can be used in order to promote specific interactions between living systems and nanocarriers. Non-covalent conjugates are less stable and more susceptible to desorption in biological media, which makes the development of engineered nanoparticle surfaces by covalent attachment an interesting topic. In this work, the surface of poly(globalide-co-e-caprolactone) (PGlCL) nanoparticles containing double bonds i…

HPMA-Based Nanoparticles for Fast, Bioorthogonal iEDDA Ligation

2019

Contains fulltext : 216143.pdf (Publisher’s version ) (Open Access) Fast and bioorthogonally reacting nanoparticles are attractive tools for biomedical applications such as tumor pretargeting. In this study, we designed an amphiphilic block copolymer system based on HPMA using different strategies to introduce the highly reactive click units 1,2,4,5-tetrazines (Tz) either at the chain end (Tz-CTA) or statistical into the hydrophobic block. This reactive group undergoes a rapid, bioorthogonal inverse electron-demand Diels-Alder reaction (iEDDA) with trans-cyclooctenes (TCO). Subsequently, this polymer platform was used for the preparation of different Tz-covered nanoparticles, such as micell…

"A versatile post-polymerization modification method for polyglutamic acid: synthesis of orthogonal reactive polyglutamates and their use in ""click …

2013

In this article we describe a versatile methodology for the synthesis of polyglutamic acid (PGA) derivatives bearing orthogonal reactive sites. The reactive groups enable selective conjugation chemistry by copper catalyzed azide-alkyne coupling (CuAAC). PGA was derived in aqueous media as well as in organic media using 4-(4,6-dimethoxy-1,3,5-triazin-2-yl)-4-methyl morpholinium chloride (DMTTM) salts. The spectra of attached chemical moieties ranges from simple PEGylation with 2,5,8,11,14,17,20-heptaoxadocosan-22-amine (mEG(6)NH2) to the incorporation of propargylamine, 11-azido-3,6,9-trioxaundecan-1-amine (NH2-EG(2)N-3), and 20-azido-3,6,9,12,15,18-hexaoxaicosan-1-amine (NH2-EG(6)N-3). Here…
