Advocacy participation and brand loyalty in virtual brand communtity
2014
Brand owners use virtual communities to strengthen brand loyalty by engaging consumers in active content creation activities. Personal and reciprocal communication and consumers’ participation in virtual brand communities are the main sources through which communities contribute to brand loyalty formation. This research examines the antecedents and consequences of advocacy participation in virtual brand communities. The results show that the VBC members’ advocacy participation is strongly contributed by the community’s ability to promote reciprocal and personal use experience, which also directly affects the members’ brand satisfaction. The results further show that advocacy participation a…

Effects of density, species interactions, and environmental stochasticity on the dynamics of British bird communities
2022
Our knowledge of the factors affecting species abundances is mainly based on time-series analyses of a few well-studied species at single or few localities, but we know little about whether results from such analyses can be extrapolated to the community level. We apply a joint species distribution model to long-term time-series data on British bird communities to examine the relative contribution of intra- and interspecific density dependence at different spatial scales, as well as the influence of environmental stochasticity, to spatiotemporal interspecific variation in abundance. Intraspecific density dependence has the major structuring effect on these bird communities. In addition, envi…
De l’aliénation et l’exclusion vers la fusion avec la communauté dans les écrits durassiens
2017
The work of Marguerite Duras shows the author’s predilection for depicting alienated outcasts living on the fringes of society. Her heroines reject consumerism and traditional values – material security, employment, and the established order. Exclusion also applies to the characters who – forced into exile – feel downgraded and deprived of identity. Their marginalization is a conscious choice, a form of defence, and a chance of survival. Awareness of exclusion entails different – often ambivalent – attitudes. It leads to defiance, sometimes self-destruction, often frustration, despair, and – paradoxically – the need for human contact. This ‘emergency’ return to the world helps to overcome p…
Effects of undergrowth removal and edge proximity on ground beetles and vascular plants in urban boreal forests
2019
Urban forests are regularly managed for human safety and esthetic reasons, but they are crucial habitat for many species. Removals of undergrowth occur commonly in these forests, yet the ecological consequences of these operations are poorly understood. We sampled ground beetles (Coleoptera, Carabidae) and vascular plants along 20-m edge gradients in Finnish urban forests, in five stands treated 0.5–2.5 years earlier with undergrowth removal and in five untreated stands. We hypothesized that undergrowth removal and edge proximity would benefit opportunistic and open-habitat species, whereas shady-habitat species would be affected negatively. (1) Regarding carabids, diversity and evenness in…
Defining gut mycobiota for wild animals: a need for caution in assigning authentic resident fungal taxa
2021
Animal gut mycobiota, the community of fungi that reside within the gastrointestinal tract, make an important contribution to host health. Accordingly, there is an emerging interest to quantify the gut mycobiota of wild animals. However, many studies of wild animal gut mycobiota do not distinguish between the fungi that likely can reside within animal gastrointestinal tracts from the fungal taxa that are non-residents, such as macrofungi, lichens or plant symbionts/pathogens that can be ingested as part of the host’s diet. Confounding the non-resident and resident gut fungi may obscure attempts to identify processes associated with the authentic, resident gut mycobiota per se. To redress th…
THE COMMUNITY AS A SOURCE OF SOCIAL SUPPORT: EVALUATION AND IMPLICATIONS AT THE INDIVIDUAL AND COMMUNITY LEVELS
2006
Rituals During Lockdown : The "Clap for our Carers" Phenomenon in France
2020
The article will analyse the emergence of the applause for health workers to health personnel, a practice widespread in France since the first day of lockdown. We examine the meaning of this ritual that was first promoted on the web and then adopted by the social actors themselves in the semi-private space of windows and balconies. We will investigate the relationships and the meaning of this practice both on the web and in the social space.
