SENS's Indicator. A Tool for Measuring the Equity of Educational Systems. A Comparison of European Countries

Initially, Sen's Indicator was built to measure the rate of poverty. Its principal advantage is that it considers three dimensions simultaniously: The rate of poverty, the intensity of poverty, the inequality of income distribution among the poor. For the work of GERESE, SEN's Indicator has been adapted for the educational system. We have built two indicators : an indicator of weakness of the students and another for the excellence of the students. I will develop in this text the indicator of weakness.

Using PISA 2000 data, this study presents an international comparison of the way social origin influences reading comprehension performances, looking at a variety of variables, some external to the school system, others internal. A variable's effect is strong in proportion to the strength of its association to father's occupation and degree to which it favors performance. The study uses the method of path analysis to distinguish between these two aspects. The French situation is presented, then compared to twelve other European Union countries. Cet article présente les débats autour du choix de l'école qui prennent place aujourd'hui, de plus en plus souvent, dans les pays étrangers, ainsi que les politiques qui ont été mises en place. Ces politiques, autant que les justifications idéologiques et théoriques qui les fondent, apparaissent de fait très variées. On examine également ce que l'on sait, au vue des recherches disponibles, de l'effet de ces politiques, sur l'efficacité et l'équité des systèmes éducatifs, résultats assez contrastés, et très dépendants des dispositifs concrets de choix retenus dans les divers pays. Nos analyses mettent en évidence l'influence de la structure de propriété des entreprises. sur la composition des CA, mais les évolutions constatées résultent également de l'application des codes de gouvernance.

International audience; This paper aims to compare the educational outcomes of children of immigrants in France and in the US to understand the educational inequalities and opportunities for social mobility for the second generation in both countries. The comparison is focused on children from two groups: North Africans in France and Mexicans in the US. By using two longitudinal datasets, the French Educational Panel Survey and Add Health, we examine aspirations, expectations and attainment in secondary education in the two contexts. Radar-rain gauges intercomparison for the estimation of high resolution rainfall.

An accurate rainfall estimation is essential for many applications like precision viticulture. Rainfall is most of the time estimated by two methods:radar and rain gauges. High resolution rain gauges network Hydravitis was installed in 2014. Data coming from radar,composite product and the network was extracted for the 2014 3 to 4 November event. Data from the network were kriged tocompare with the other products. Results show that PANTHERE radar image well reproduces the spatial variability ofrainfall but underestimates rainfall amounts over a 4 mm/h intensité. Cet article présente une analyse de la qualité de l’emploi des femmes de chambre dans divers pays d’Europe sous le double aspect des contraintes patronales de gestion de main-d’œuvre, et de la construction des trajectoires professionnelles des salariées. Vulnérables, peu qualifiées et peu valorisées, souvent d’origine étrangère, la plupart des femmes de chambre sont aisément fidélisées du fait de leur faible employabilité sur le marché du travail.
