Conductive polycaprolactone/gelatin/polyaniline nanofibres as functional scaffolds for cardiac tissue regeneration

2022

Abstract The endorsement of functional features such as biocompatibility, mechanical integrity, or electrical conductivity to tissue engineering (TE) scaffolds is essential to stimulate cell adhesion and proliferation. In this study, electrospun nanofibers based on polycaprolactone (PCL) and gelatin (Ge) (ratios 60/40, 50/50, and 40/60), and polyaniline (PAni) particles (0.25, 0.50, and 1.00%wt) were prepared. The time of dissolution in an acid solvent mixture before electrospinning allowed for obtaining nanofibers with controlled features. Changes in the molar mass (Mn from 90·103 to 15·103 g·mol−1), in the crystalline microstructure (Xc from 60 to 25%) and the surface morphology (diameter…

Hydroxyapatite/Chitosan/Collagen coatings through galvanic coupling

In this work, the attention was focused on Hydroxyapatite/ Chitosan/Collagen composite as biocoatings for application in orthopaedic devices. Hydroxyapatite was selected for its osteoconductivity due to its chemical structure similar to bones. Collagen has the same function since 90-95% of bone matrix is constituted of collagen fibers. Furthermore, chitosan are largely used yet in medical field (e.g. antibacterial agent or drug deliver) and in this work were used to create a synergic interaction with hydroxyapatite and collagen to increase the strength and bioactivity of coating. Coatings were fabricated by galvanic deposition process that has different advantages an it does not require ext…

Le professioni di agente sportivo e avvocato: reviviscenza dei profili di incompatibilità

2019

This article addresses the issue of the incompatibility between the activity of sports agent and that of lawyer in the light of the new regulation on the sports agent introduced by art. 1, par. 373, of the statute 205/2017. This question appeared, if not completely resolved, at least attenuated following the opinion expressed by the National Bar Council (17 July 2015) according to which, in the absence of a legislative regulation referring the activity of sports agent to a specific profession, the exercise of this activity by the lawyer should be authorized without the need of registration in the relevant register kept by the FIGC. The above mentioned question is re-proposed today to the at…

Application of DNA techniques for identification using human dental pulp as a source of DNA

1992

Dental pulp tissue could be obtained in most cases from materials obtained under experimental conditions and from forensic casework (air accidents, burned and putrefied bodies). Teeth extracted during dental treatment (n = 30) were stored for 6 weeks and 4 years at room temperature. In addition teeth (n = 10) extracted from jaw fragments that had been stored for 15 years at room temperature, and teeth extracted post mortem from actual identification cases (n = 8) were investigated. Following extraction from dental pulp tissue the DNA concentration was measured by fluorometry. The amount of DNA obtained from the dental pulp tissue of a single tooth varied from 6 micrograms to 50 micrograms D…

Cooperative Catechol-Functionalized Polypept(o)ide Brushes and Ag Nanoparticles for Combination of Protein Resistance and Antimicrobial Activity on M…

2018

Prevention of biofouling and microbial contamination of implanted biomedical devices is essential to maintain their functionality and biocompatibility. For this purpose, polypept(o)ide block copolymers have been developed, in which a protein-resistant polysarcosine (pSar) block is combined with a dopamine-modified poly(glutamic acid) block for surface coating and silver nanoparticles (Ag NPs) formation. In the development of a novel, versatile, and biocompatible antibacterial surface coating, block lengths pSar were varied to derive structure-property relationships. Notably, the catechol moiety performs two important tasks in parallel; primarily it acts as an efficient anchoring group to me…

Obtaining the Compatibility between Musicians Using Soft Computing

2010

Modeling the musical notes as fuzzy sets provides a flexible framework which better explains musicians’ daily practices. Taking into account one of the characteristics of the sound: the pitch (the frequency of a sound as perceived by human ear), a similarity relation between two notes can be defined. We call this relation compatibility. In the present work, we propose a method to asses the compatibility between musicians based on the compatibility of their interpretations of a given composition. In order to aggregate the compatibilities between the notes offered and then obtain the compatibility between musicians, we make use of an OWA operator. We illustrate our approach with a numerical e…

Dacarbazine-mediated upregulation of NKG2D ligands on tumor cells activates NK and CD8 T cells and restrains melanoma growth.

2013

International audience; Dacarbazine (DTIC) is a cytotoxic drug widely used for melanoma treatment. However, the putative contribution of anticancer immune responses in the efficacy of DTIC has not been evaluated. By testing how DTIC affects host immune responses to cancer in a mouse model of melanoma, we unexpectedly found that both natural killer (NK) and CD8(+) T cells were indispensable for DTIC therapeutic effect. Although DTIC did not directly affect immune cells, it triggered the upregulation of NKG2D ligands on tumor cells, leading to NK cell activation and IFNγ secretion in mice and humans. NK cell-derived IFNγ subsequently favored upregulation of major histocompatibility complex cl…

Physico-Chemical Stability of Admixtures of Vinflunine Used in Clinical Practice.

2021

Procedure of administration of vinflunine is complex and consists of an Y-site injection with fluid at different speeds. Dose is diluted with 100 mL of 0.9% sodium chloride or 5% glucose and infused with half of the 500 mL bag of the fluid over 20 min; after that, the remaining fluid is administered at 300 mL/h. In this study, chemical stability and physical compatibility of vinflunine diluted with in 500 mL of both fluids were evaluated to simplify the administration procedure (infusion of mixture on 20 min followed by 250 mL of fluid at 300 mL/h). Physical compatibility and chemical stability were evaluated at two temperatures and protected from and exposed to light. Physical compatibilit…
