Interconceptualizing Europe and Peace : Identity Building Under the European Heritage Label

AbstractThis chapter investigates how peace is used in attempts to build a collective identity for the European Union in the context of the European Heritage Label (EHL), a central instrument in the EU’s cultural heritage policy. The official EHL documents and the websites of the EHL sites are analysed using a conceptual approach that particularly focuses on the interconceptualizations between peace and Europe. The ways peace is discussed can be divided into four thematic categories: treaties, institutions, practices, and symbols related to peace. The chapter concludes that heritage related to peace is mainly discussed in a non-contradictory manner, with little space for dissonance.
Differential memory persistence of odor mixture and components in newborn rabbits: competition between the whole and its parts

Interacting with the mother during the daily nursing, newborn rabbits experience her body odour cues. In particular, the mammary pheromone (MP) contained in rabbit milk triggers the typical behaviour which helps to localize and seize the nipples. It also promotes the very rapid appetitive learning of simple or complex stimuli (odorants or mixtures) through associative conditioning. Intraspecific variation in mating behaviour does not cause sexual isolation between Drosophila virilis strains

There is increasing evidence that mate recognition systems vary within species. We studied the courtship rituals of five Drosophila virilis strains to investigate this intraspecific variation. Males that actively and persistently courted the female without paying much attention to the female's behaviour were the most successful at copulating. Intraspecific variation in mating rituals was high, but not as high as at the species level and it was not high enough to cause sexual isolation between the strains. Abstract The solitary parasitoid Eretmocerus mundus Mercet (Hymenoptera: Aphelinidae) is one of the key biological control agents of the whitefly Bemisia argentifolii Bellows & Perring, also known as B. tabaci (Gennadius) B-biotype (Homoptera: Aleyrodidae). We present new information on its biology, and particularly about larval elimination during the first instar in cases of superparasitism. To improve understanding of the plant N nutrition ecology, we tested the effect of intraspecific competition and AMF in plant N source use in growth and N acquisition. L'articolo esplora il trattamento penale dei fatti di corruzione privata, anche alla luce della recente legge n. 190/2012. Due le tesi principali sostenute: 1) contrariamente a quel che si crede, nel nostro ordinamento esiste già (ed esisteva anche prima del 2012) una incriminazione - sia pur non diretta - dei fatti di corruzione privata; 2) la riforma del 2012 cambia l'offensita' tipica dei reati di cui all'art. 2635 c.c., affiancando alla tutela del patrimonio, una tutela della concorrenza quale interesse dei consumatori. The paper explores the Italian discipline on private bribery, which has recently undergone significant reform through law no. 190/2012.
