Background: Long chain polyunsaturated fatty acids (LCPUFAs) including docosahexaenoic acid and arachidonic acid are suspected to play a key role in the pathogenesis of diabetes. LCPUFAs are known to be preferentially concentrated in specific phospholipids termed as plasmalogens. Objective: To determine the clinical characteristics of the orofacial pain of cardiac origin in patients visited when doing a treadmill exercise test, at the cardiology service of the Can Ruti Hospital in Badalona (Barcelona, Spain). Study design: The sample of that study included thirty patients visiteding when doing a treadmill exercise test, at the cardiology service. Unilateral ureteral obstruction (UUO) has been used as an experimental model to induce tubulointerstitial damage and interstitial fibrosis. UUO is characterized by cellular proliferation, accumulation of inflammatory cells, and subsequent replacement of renal parenchyma by fibrous tissue. The influx of inflammatory cells into the renal interstitium is mediated by adhesion molecules. Liver failure caused by light chain deposition disease associated with multiple myeloma.

Acute liver failure is an unusual complication in multiple myeloma. Here, we report a case of multiple myeloma with light chain deposition disease (LCDD) that presented with progressive jaundice due to intrahepatic cholestasis. Diagnosis was made after liver biopsy that showed deposition of kappa light chains occupying perisinusoidal spaces. The patient developed encephalopathy and liver failure and died despite prompt initiation of dexamethasone therapy. The current prognosis of multiple myeloma patients with liver failure due to LCDD is dismal. New therapeutic strategies might improve this condition.
