For a large scaled test 52 patients with anterior transposition of the ulnar nerve and 62 patients with elbow injuries were examined by questionnaire, physical examination and electroneurography. In conformity with existing literature 24 patients out of 52 suffering from cubital tunnel syndrome had an elbow trauma previously. To our great surprise in seven patients out of 46 with elbow injuries a cubital tunnel syndrome could be found for the first time. The cubital tunnel syndrome appears to be a frequent complication of elbow injuries. Percutaneous transhepatic biliary drainage (PTBD) is a well established method in the treatment of obstructive jaundice. Major indications are malignant diseases. PTBD may be necessary preoperatively in cases with severe jaundice or cholangitis or as part of palliative treatment concepts. In the past, it has been proposed that a period of preoperative PTBD may improve the morbidity rates of surgery. Various studies could not prove this theory. Aim To determine the prevalence of pulmonary changes on chest radiographs and computed tomography (CT/HRCT) in HIV patients and their relation to pulmonary symptoms. Material and method 64 HIV patients were examined prospectively. 15 had no respiratory symptoms (group I), 30 had non-specific respiratory symptoms (group II), 19 complained of dyspnoea (group III). Chest radiographs and CT were performed within a week. In patients with positive findings, bronchoscopy was carried out with bacteriological and histological examinations. This study evaluated the appearance and management of chylous ascites following lymphadenectomy for gynecological malignancies. This finding can be interpreted as an incidental appearance. At the moment there are no standardized guidelines regarding diagnostics and therapy of gastric hyperplastic polyps. Referring to a short review of the literature endoscopic snare polypectomy seems to be a reasonable therapeutic option of hyperplastic polyps with a size of 0.5-1 cm. Drug-induced hepatitis: a rare complication of oral anticoagulants.

Hepatotoxicity is a rare complication of coumarin anticoagulants. We present the case of a 56-year-old woman who developed a viral-hepatitis-like picture 8 months after mitral valve replacement and oral anticoagulation. Phenprocoumon-induced hepatitis was diagnosed after positive reexposure and improvement following withdrawal of the drug. There appeared to be cross-reactivity to warfarin since this drug led to a similar increase in alkaline phosphatase and gamma-glutamyl transferase after a few days of administration. Adverse Effects of Nonsteroidal Anti-Inflammatory Drugs on the Small and Large Bowel

Nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAID) account for a large part of prescriptions and self-administered medication worldwide. The adverse effects on the upper gastrointestinal tract are well documented. However, in an increasing number of publications adverse effects in the small and large intestine distal to the duodenum are being reported. This paper provides an updated review of current as well as earlier literature on the pathogenesis of such adverse effects and the potential damage to the small and large bowel caused by NSAID. In addition, suggestions for an appropriate diagnostic workup of NSAID damage are discussed.
