We describe a case report of a patient that was implanted with a posterior chamber phakic intraocular lens (Phakic Refractive Lens, PRL) for the correction of moderate myopia and who developed postoperatively a fixed mydriasis compatible with an Urrets-Zavalia Syndrome (UZS). Specifically, a sudden acute increase of IOP in the left eye was observed in the immediate postoperative period. After IOP stabilization, the refractive result was good, but a fixed and mydriatic pupil appeared. This condition led the patient to experience visual discomfort, halos, and glare associated with high levels of higher-order aberrations in spite of the good visual result. Objective To assess the urologic and obstetric outcomes during and after pregnancy following urinary diversion (UD) performed during childhood or adolescence. Materials and Methods From our UD database, we identified 25 women who became pregnant between 1981 and 2013. Reasons for UD were neurogenic bladder, exstrophy, trauma, sinus urogenitalis, and interstitial cystitis. Seventeen had continent cutaneous diversion, 4 had continent anal diversion, and 4 had colonic conduit. Results The average age at delivery was 27.8 (18-39) years. Depression has been associated with sleep disturbances in pregnancy; however, no previous research has controlled the possible confounding effect of anxiety on this association. This study aims to analyze the effect of depression on sleep during the third trimester of pregnancy controlling for anxiety. The sample was composed by 143 depressed (n = 77) and non-depressed (n = 66) pregnant women who completed measures of depression, anxiety, and sleep. Differences between groups in sleep controlling for anxiety were found.
