Complement C5 but not C3 is expendable for tissue factor activation by cofactor-independent antiphospholipid antibodies

The complement and coagulation cascades interact at multiple levels in thrombosis and inflammatory diseases. In venous thrombosis, complement factor 3 (C3) is crucial for platelet and tissue factor (TF) procoagulant activation dependent on protein disulfide isomerase (PDI). Furthermore, C5 selectively contributes to the exposure of leukocyte procoagulant phosphatidylserine (PS), which is a prerequisite for rapid activation of monocyte TF and fibrin formation in thrombosis. In this paper, we present an efficient and rigorous method, based on the 3-D boundary integral-resonant-mode expansion technique, for the analysis of multiport rectangular waveguide junctions compensated with partial-height cylindrical metallic posts. The electrical performance of a great variety of commonly used wideband microwave circuits has been improved drastically thanks to the introduction of a new design parameter, i.e., the relative position of the metallic post in the structure. When classroom observations are increasingly used for accountability and evaluation purposes, a deeper understanding of the psychometric properties of such measurement tools is needed. The present study took a unique approach to examine the psychometric properties of a commonly used classroom observation measure by testing the reliability of indicators for higher-order constructs (i.e. dimensions). Wstęp: Seks stanowi manifestację relacji miłosnej pozwalającą na osiągnięcie pełni miłości. Seks osób starszych bywa jednak często pomijany lub niedoceniany w dyskusjach nad ludzką seksualnością. Aktywność seksualna w wieku senioralnym jest formą wyrażania uczuć i bliskości, ale również wzajemnej lojalności i zaufania. Ma również właściwości prozdrowotne. Badacze twierdzą, że aż 67% osób starszych jest zadowolonych ze swojej aktywności seksualnej. Materiały i metody: W badaniu wzięły udział 83 osoby w wieku 61–81 lat, 33 mężczyzn oraz 55 kobiet. The impact of retro-cue validity on working memory representation: Evidence from electroencephalograms.

Visual working memory (VWM) performance can be improved by retrospectively cueing an item. The validity of retro-cues has an impact on the mechanisms underlying the retro-cue effect, but how non-cued representations are handled under different retro-cue validity conditions is not yet clear. Here, we used electroencephalograms to investigate whether retro-cue validity can affect the fate of non-cued representations in VWM. The participants were required to perform a change-detection task using a retro-cue with 80% or 20% validity.
