Investigation of AC Electrical Properties of MXene-PCL Nanocomposites for Application in Small and Medium Power Generation
2021
The paper examined Ti3C2Tx MXene (T—OH, Cl or F), which is prepared by etching a layered ternary carbide Ti3AlC2 (312 MAX-phase) precursor and deposited on a polycaprolactone (PCL) electrospun membrane (MXene-PCL nanocomposite). X-ray Diffraction analysis (XRD) and Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM) indicates that the obtained material is pure Ti3C2 MXene. SEM of the PCL-MXene composite demonstrate random Ti3C2 distribution over the nanoporous membrane. Results of capacitance, inductance, and phase shift angle studies of the MXene-PCL nanocomposite are presented. It was found that the frequency dependence of the capacitance exhibited a clear sharp minima in the frequency range of 50 Hz to o…
Cation Distribution in a Titanium Ferrite Fe2.75Ti0.25O4Measured byin-SituAnomalous Powder Diffraction Using Rietveld Refinement
1998
Many ferrites contain different cations with various valence states and location in the spinel structure. In compounds such as these, only a combination of different techniques such as Mussbauer spectroscopy, IR analysis, and thermogravimetry allows the distribution of cations to be obtained. For very complicated distributions, the mathematical decomposition of derivative thermogravimetric curves (DTG) leading to quantitative distribution is uncertain. In this paper, we present an alternative technique based on resonant diffraction. The anomalous scattering of each cation in the crystalline material is used to determine its amount and position by Rietveld refinement. Since the energy for su…
Study of plastic deformation modes in zirconium by color image analysis
2004
Abstract Twinning, as a deformation mode, is a complement to slip. This paper deals with the study from a qualitative point of view, as well as from a quantitative one. Besides techniques widely used in materials science studies such as electron backscattered diffraction (EBSD) or X-ray diffraction (XRD), colour image analysis technique are presented here. Its results manage to confirm or complete the ones obtained, thanks to others methods.
Elastic Properties of Barium Zirconate Titanate Ceramics
2011
In the paper the influence of zirconium admixture on the structure and material constants of polycrystalline ferroelectric materials BaZrxTi1-xO3 (BZT) was examined. The barium zirconate titanate samples were prepared by a conventional solid state reaction method. A single phase with perovskite structure of the samples, was identified by an X-Ray diffraction technique at room temperature. The performed EDS study revealed that the samples were perfectly sintered and the material was chemically homogeneous. The dependence of shear modulus G on sample composition is similar to the respective dependence of Young's modulus E, whereas the Poisson's ratio ν decreases with the increase in zirconium…
Analysis of the crystallization behaviour of PBT-rich PBT/PET blends under processing conditions
2007
Among the high‐performance polyesters blends PBT/PET blends are expected to exhibit remarkable properties as far as the crystallization behaviour is concerned. The solidification behaviour of a 60/40 w/w PBT/PET blend was studied in a wide range of cooling conditions, according to a Continuous Cooling Transformation (CCT) procedure developed by the authors, aiming to emulate the typical conditions encountered in polymer processing. A set of several samples characterized by an homogeneous structure was prepared by solidification from the melt through spray cooling, and the resulting structure and properties were evaluated by density, Micro Hardness (MH), Wide Angle X‐ray Diffraction (WAXD) m…
Isotactic polypropylene solidification under pressure and high cooling rates. A master curve approach
2000
Solidification in industrial processes very often involves flow fields, high thermal gradients and high pressures: the development of a model able to describe the polymer behavior becomes complex. Recently a new equipment has been developed and improved to study the crystallization of polymers when quenched under pressure. An experimental apparatus based on a modified, special injection moulding machine has been employed. Polymer samples can be cooled at a known cooling rate up to 100 °C/s and under a constant pressure up to 40 MPa. Density, Micro Hardness (MH), Wide angle X-ray diffraction (WAXD), and annealing measurements were then used to characterize the obtained sample morphology. Res…
Structural, microstructural and impedance spectroscopy study of functional ferroelectric ceramic materials based on barium titanate
2013
The differences between the physical properties of barium titanate BaTiO3 and newly obtained BaHfxTi1-xO3 were identified. These ceramics were prepared by solid-phase reaction from simple oxides and carbonates using the conventional method. The structure and morphology of investigated samples were characterised by X-ray diffraction (XRD) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM). The application of impedance spectroscopy made possible to characterize of these materials in the terms of electrical properties.
STACKING-FAULTS IN VERY FINE PALLADIUM PARTICLES SUPPORTED ON PUMICE
1990
By means of an X-ray diffraction study, carried out with best-fitting procedures, of the asymmetry and peak maximum shifts of some reflections, stacking-faults in the FCC lattice of very fine palladium particles supported on pumice were detected using the Warren-Wagner-Cohen theoretical approach.
Differential scanning calorimetry investigation of phase transition in $BaZr_{x}Ti_{1-x}O_{3}$
2009
ABSTRACT Lead-free BaZrxTi1-xO3 (x = 0; 0.025; 0.125) ceramics have been obtained by a conventional method. A single-phase perovskite structure of the ceramics was identified by the X-ray diffraction method. EDS analysis, performed for the individual grains of the tested sample, showed a good homogeneous distribution of all elements throughout the grains. The thermal behaviour of BaZrxTi1-xO3 (x = 0; 0.025; 0.125) ceramics was studied using the Differential Scanning Calorimetry (DSC). Measurements showed the influence of Zr addition on the character of phase transition in the BaTiO3 structure. The results were compared with these ones obtained for pure BaTiO3.
Sol-gel synthesis and photocatalytic activity of ZnO-SnO2 nanocomposites
2014
Abstract ZnO–SnO 2 nanocomposites were synthesized by a facile sol–gel synthesis route and characterized through X-ray diffraction, BET specific surface area analysis, UV–vis diffuse reflectance spectroscopy, photoluminescence spectroscopy, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, scanning electron microscopy, transmission electron microscopy. The photocatalytic activity of the samples was tested using the degradation of 4-nitrophenol under UV light as model reaction. The ZnO/SnO 2 molar ratio was varied in order to study its influence on the photoefficiency of the samples. The ZnO–SnO 2 nanocomposites showed higher photoactivity than the pure oxides and in particular the sample with ZnO/SnO 2 mol…
