Anisotropy and chemical composition of ultra-high energy cosmic rays using arrival directions measured by the Pierre Auger Observatory
2011
The Pierre Auger Collaboration has reported evidence for anisotropy in the distribution of arrival directions of the cosmic rays with energies $E>E_{th}=5.5\times 10^{19}$ eV. These show a correlation with the distribution of nearby extragalactic objects, including an apparent excess around the direction of Centaurus A. If the particles responsible for these excesses at $E>E_{th}$ are heavy nuclei with charge $Z$, the proton component of the sources should lead to excesses in the same regions at energies $E/Z$. We here report the lack of anisotropies in these directions at energies above $E_{th}/Z$ (for illustrative values of $Z=6,\ 13,\ 26$). If the anisotropies above $E_{th}$ are du…

The European Regional Convergence Process, 1980-1995: Do Spatial Regimes and Spatial Dependence Matter?
2002
International audience; The authors show that spatial dependence and spatial heterogeneity matter in the estimation of the ß-convergence process among 138 European regions over the 1980 to 1995 period. Using spatial econometrics tools, the authors detect both spatial dependence and spatial heterogeneity in the form of structural instability across spatial convergence clubs. The estimation of the appropriate spatial regimes spatial error model shows that the convergence process is different across regimes. The authors also estimate a strongly significant spatial spillover effect: the average growth rate of per capita GDP of a given region is positively affected by the average growth rate of …
The relationship between organizational interdependency and additionality obtained from innovation ecosystem participation
2019
Abstract Despite the increased interest in innovation ecosystems, few studies have assessed the extent to which the proclaimed benefits from participating in such ecosystems also occur, and under which circumstances they do occur. Uniting the literature on organizational interdependence and social exchange theory, we assess the behavioral and output additionality obtained by innovation ecosystem participants. In doing so, we build upon a sample of 473 innovative Finnish companies, of which 312 participated in an innovation ecosystem. We find a significantly positive relationship between organizational interdependence and output additionality, and find that this relationship is mediated by b…

Comparison of 3 ionisation methods - electron ionisation, chemical ionisation and atmospheric pressure photoionisation - for the characterisation of …
2021
International audience; Gas chromatography (GC) is a reproducible, robust, selective and sensitive method to analyse volatile organic compounds (VOCs) in a wide range of applications. The separated analytes are generally characterised by mass spectrometry (MS) under vacuum conditions. The main ionisation method is the Electron Ionisation (EI): high energy exchanges occur, causing reproducible molecular fragmentations. Chemical Ionisation (CI) is another ionisation method where a reactive gas (i.e. methane or ammonia) is ionised to form reactant ions. GC-MS can also be conducted under atmospheric pressure. Atmospheric Pressure PhotoIonisation (APPI) is the most recent source [1]. Emitted pho…
